So we are approaching 4 months post Christmas and what is still being played with in your houses? What were the hits and for what ages?

For us, its the random dart board that we picked up in smyths as part of a 2 for £15 deal (we had bought something for ds2 and couldn't find anything else, so grabbed it on a 'more for daddy than ds1' gift) but ds1 loves it!
Ds2 was an ipad, he adores it.

The failures were a miposaur for ds1, played with it once and now it's gathering dust and ds2 was a weird water game that had boats and a shark - that's gone to the charity shop.
Ds1 is 10 and ds2 is 5.

DD (4) hits- Lego, particularly the Disney princess stuff, and the massive Playmobil farm. I wasn't sure if the latter would be an expensive mistake, but it's doing well!
Misses - Elsa and Anna dolls. She was overjoyed to get them but they're ornaments now.

DS (1) hits- anything which requires batteries and makes obnoxious noises. He's also getting hours and hours of play out of the ELC kitchen, which I would have thought he was too young for!
Misses - bricks and other things for building / knocking over. He's not really bothered.

Ds (2) scooter and wooden train track
Dd (5) sticker books.

Biggest hit for DS - Transformer Rescuebots Firestation and Rescuebots. A huge relief as had many trips out to source the figures as nowhere online had them at a decent prize. These are played with every single day.
Finding Dory Squigglefish were an instant hit but he got bored of them very quickly and they now lie lurking at the bottom of the toy box.

DD loved her Bugs in the Kitchen game and her MLP Crystal Empire castle.
Less of a hit is the Disney Merida now she really wanted as she finds it hard to use and instead poses with it but plays more with the simple bow and arrow set she won at the fair!

DD -5 loves her Disney princess dressing up clothes and shoes and her xylophone and cake stand/tea set. Unfortunately she also likes her cry baby doll and has said she's going to ask Father Christmas for another one next year Hmm

DS-8 loves his lego but other than that he just plays with his old stuff like Playmobile knights and his IPad.

Failures are the huge soft toy dolphin that makes noises and sucks a dummy, DD begged for it and has never played with it. I bought DS some books on the world and one called A Street Through Time which haven't been touched, except by me!

Next year I will not buy any extra tat, no novelty glasses, fart whistles, pots of putty etc. I always think they'll have fun with them 'on the day' but we're so busy over Christmas they never come out the packets!

Teen ds (notoriously hard to buy for!) has used his screwdrivers a lot. (Spent £5 tops for a set)
Younger ds is torch mad. He always gets one in his stocking and owns about 10 in different sizes but he can't get enough of them.

Lego still being played with. Embrassingly we have games that haven't been taken out their boxes.
I'm half tempted to put them back in my cupboard and regift either this Christmas or wait a few years for little brother.
