What went down well this year?

In my house it was the 99p 'cracker joke book' from Card Factory Xmas Smile

A snow globe, spy pen and a memory game.

Sugarandsalt · 28/12/2016 21:51

My DD is 2.5 and was beyond excited about an orange and raisins which I just threw in to fill up the stocking at the last minute. I'm not sure why as she does get fruit whenever she wants!

RueDeDay · 28/12/2016 21:55

A jar of personalised Nutella... DD had never heard of, or seen, such a thing and was overwhelmed with joy.

Makemineacabsauv · 28/12/2016 21:58

DD - a make up bronzer I got free with a magazine, Costa voucher and some Tanya Burr makeup that came out of a TB advent calendar when it was reduced to half price! She is 13.
DS (14) it was his Greggs voucher and a flint fire starter thingy. He does doe.

These dinosaur egg things that you soak in water and a little toy dinosaur hatches out.

Tubs of slime with a scooby doo figure in them

weird and wonderful sweets we found in a quirky sweet shop

A paw patrol hair brush for dd (3) - everyone's hair got brushed by her that morning Grin

Tidypidy · 28/12/2016 22:11

makemine greggs do gift vouchers? Shock that's added to the ideas list for dh for next year....

Polkadot1974 · 29/12/2016 22:03

Where did you get the light up eggs? Mine would love them! Thanking you

butterflymum · 29/12/2016 22:21

MiniDoofa, our youngest got the melting snowman in stocking too, and yesterday, built it then let it melt in front of tablet, whilst running a 'time lapse' photo app. Added even more to the initial fun of the 'melt', by being able to watch it back on the screen.

Thumbcat · 29/12/2016 22:35

DS (9) was thrilled with a packet of Blu Tack Grin

lucysmam · 29/12/2016 23:32

I would also like to know about the light up eggs, dd2 loves a nightlight or seven.

Also, do I just type "melting snowman" into Amazon? They sound fun to do :)

I'd say the biggest stocking success was a trio worn out secondhand Lightening McQueen, Mater and Sally cars that I primed and repainted as Batman, Robin and Batgirl style cars. DS(4) has seen them on youtube videos and often wondered about where you could get them. It was so funny as he initially found the Robin-Mater but just thought it was a funnily coloured Mater. He really liked it but wasn't excited. When he found the Batman-Lightening he was so excited it took him nearly a full minute to process what it was and he was jumping up and down with glee. Then he found Sally, realised she was Batgirl and it finally dawned on him that the Mater was Robin, so had to go back and check him and was so happy to have a whole Bat-family of Cars. He lined them up together and was so delighted to have them. :D

lucysmam · 30/12/2016 13:48

Springer, they sound fab! And your ds's reaction brilliant Grin

A little tiny tub with lots of little tiny owl rubbers inside. Its the only thing dsd has been telling people she got and we look like mean parents Grin

BellMcEnd · 30/12/2016 14:16

A toy dustbin lorry from Poundland. DS3 has barely put it down and spends most of his time stroking it lovingly.

He loves a dustbin lorry Grin

123bananas · 30/12/2016 14:31

Giant fluffy pipe cleaners from Tiger. Have been made into many things so far by dd's aged 7 and 4.

Twosies small packs also went down well.

Also they haven't stopped playing with the outfit packs for Barbie type dolls from Amazon. Given as part of a gift, but suitable for stocking gifts too.

Ds (3) liked his Pickle car from Blaze and the Monster Machines.

Notso · 30/12/2016 14:55

Wallets. My 6 and 4 year old love them, they were a bit of a last minute buy and only cost about £2 each, Father Christmas put a shiny pound in them too.
For my 12 year old a Starbucks mug and syrup.
For my 16 year old a white toblerone and a voucher to get her eyebrows done.

SweetPeaPods · 30/12/2016 14:58

Toothbrushes!

ImissTerry · 30/12/2016 14:59

99p retro wind up robot from Home Bargains - it really is good!

SixtyDegreesNorth · 30/12/2016 14:59

What is that ShimmeringIce?

TweedleDee3TweedleDum · 30/12/2016 16:56

£1.03 rattle from amazon. Main spend was £120, and no interest shown.

d270r0 · 30/12/2016 17:36

5 year old ds loved one of those sticky horrible things (this one was shape of a snowman) that stick to windows and walls and leave nasty smudgey marks on them
