Please help! Turkey still pink

All my trimmings are ready and DH carved the turkey it's slightly pink just under the bacon. Middle is white (is a crown)
I cooked it for 2.5hrs (3kilo) and tested it with a thermometer.
Been resting for 2 hours and I'm about to serve. I can't, can I?
What do I do?

If you tested it with a thermometer I can't see the problem. Sometimes the bacon can kind of change the colour of the meat can't it?

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 25/12/2016 14:35

I can't see how the middle would be cooked and the outside not. I go with wolfie's theory of coloring from the bacon.

PinkSwimGoggles · 25/12/2016 14:36

bacon does this to chicken.
are the juices clear? test the meat has a cooked consistency.

flapjackfairy · 25/12/2016 14:36

I have had this before, it should be fine

dementedpixie · 25/12/2016 14:40

When you buy chicken breasts that are ready wrapped with bacon, they always warn in the packaging that the bacon can make the chicken look pink. If the middle is cooked then the outside must be cooked too

SouthernNorthernGirl · 25/12/2016 14:41

Ok, thank you. I will go with it as ok then. Just a bit worried, especially as young children are eating it too.

If juices are running clear it will be fine.Give it a poke with a small knife & place a saucer or small plate underneath it to catch the juice. The bacon lightly tinged our turkey too.

ApollO88 · 25/12/2016 14:48

I used to work for a turkey factory. If the juices are clear ur good to go. The bacon will transfer nitrates to the turkey, that's the pinking u are seeing

ApollO88 · 25/12/2016 14:49

In June we would test cook all the lovely Sainsbury's and marks and Spenser birds. They used to do a lovely bacon topped one that u added maple syrup to in the half hour of cooking! It was gorgeous!

gunting · 25/12/2016 15:07

I cooked chicken wrapped in bacon last week and the outer layer was pink but inside was white. We are all fine after eating it and guessed it was the baco

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/12/2016 15:11

if the thermometer says it's ok, and the thermometer is in the thickest part, not against a bone then it's good to go. A lot of the nicer breeds of turkey can look a bit pink.

HELP!! Just piggybacking this one sorry. Got a 5kg turkey crown. Juices seemed clear DH got cooking instructions from the internet & cooked roughly 2hours. Trimmings all ready started carving it
and specks of blood like a vein still slightly runny at the centre? How much longer should we cook it? It's had an extra half an hour now or would you cut round it??? Thanks

Brighteyes27 · 25/12/2016 15:26

We don't have a thermometer.

Stoneagemum · 25/12/2016 15:39

I cooked my 4.8kg crown for 3hours, rested for 1 hour under tin foil & a towel, came out perfect

Crispbutty · 25/12/2016 15:56

If in doubt, cut a crown in half and put back in the oven.

DeckTheHall · 25/12/2016 16:14

I think if it is clear the middle is cooked this is fine
