Help! Father in law present ideas

Need a last minute present for FIL who doesn't want anything! He's 60, likes DIY, he likes doesn't like wasting money (i.e. Only buys things he needs)
I need to get something, even if it's a box of chocolates but would like to get something differently. Any ideas?

Bottle of whisky? A book like this

A nicer version of something you know he likes. So, if he drinks blended whisky, a bottle of single malt. If he uses aftershave, a similar scent in a 'nicer' brand.

Or books. Books are the best present of all.

I've spent weeks trying to buy for my FIL, who also "doesn't want anything". He has no specific hobbies, doesn't really drink, won't eat nuts (not allergic, but apparently they all cause him problems) so a lot of chocolate is out, not a foodie etc etc.

In then end we've bought him a nice shirt. It's a checked shirt, quite similar to a number that he already has. But we know he'll wear it and therefore it will be useful!

If he drinks aldi have a really nice book with mini bottles of Maynards ports for £19.99
Into gardening what Bird feeder or gnome ,
Leather gloves or a wash bag set.
My father in laws in to red wine so we bought him some fancy stuff from Waitrose ( makes me nervous as I don't drink)

I bought my grandad (late 60s) one of those digital weather stations that tell you the temperature, forecast etc. But if a wildcard but went down a treat.

I got DH a steel framed tool bag one year. It's like a manly picnic basket for carrying DIY tools around while tinkering doing important jobs around the house.

He was a bit at first, but he uses it all the time.

Got my FIL some sugru off amazon as part of his gift. Never heard of it before but saw it on bargain thread & thought it was a bit different

I got my FIL some things that were on a thread on here. As above, I got Sugru, Formcards (they look amazing- look on Amazon) and a novelty gift

FIL is a bit like this. Likes nice gin but happily drinks bombay as it's good value. We have got him a few bottles of 'treat' gin, Hendricks, Edinburgh and Botanist.

Perhaps something similar?

What sort of DIY is your FIL into?

Multi-tools are always handy irrespective of what other tools he already has. Something like this (I've actually got this one).

Another idea would be a DIY tool belt kind of thing - fantastically useful and I bet he doesn't already have one. This kind of thing.
