What do you eat on Christmas Day? Apart from the Dinner.

What do you have for starter if you have one pudding etc

OP posts:
Kirriemuir · 18/12/2016 14:21

Breakfast will be pan au chocolat with champagne and orange juice.

Followed by chocolate

Lunch is going to be pate this year with onion marmalade and oat cakes

Turkey and all the bits

Pudding, don't know yet. Whatever marks and Spencer or sainsburys has in store.

Cheese board with port

Later on Crisps, nibbles and leftover roast potoatoes in gravy.

spankhurst · 18/12/2016 14:54

Fry up (we have one literally 3 times a year).
Bucks Fizz, juice.
Trad turkey lunch.
Ham, salad, leftovers, baguettes.

spankhurst · 18/12/2016 14:54

No starter, Xmas pud or Yule log for kids.

Equimum · 18/12/2016 17:44

Cinnamon swirls for breakfast
Mushroom Wellington & all the trimmings for lunch
Trifle
Seafood platter & crusty bread for supper

MrsChrisPratt · 18/12/2016 17:48

Croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast

Mixed seafood starter (salmon mousse, prawn mousse, smoked salmon) with a small salad and teeny slice of naice bread
Turkey and all the trimmings
Christmas pud with brandy butter/cream

Cheese board in the evening

Chocolates, crisp, wine, sherry and G&Ts on offer all day

All the leftovers in a big buffet on boxing day

anyoldname76 · 18/12/2016 17:50

we dont really have breakfast, dc will have cereal or toast, we don't have a starter, pud will be either choc pudding or trifle, for tea we have nibbles and turkey sandwiches. throughout the day though we do have chocs and nibbles

Lifeisontheup2 · 18/12/2016 17:54

Kedgeree for breakfast, smoked salmon on soda bread handed round with champagne as a starter then turkey with all the trimmings, xmas pud and brandy butter (already made) with cheeseboard to follow.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 18/12/2016 17:59

Gammon, boiled egg & buttered brown bread for breakfast

No starter but giant roast (lots of pigs in blankets for me!)

1970's val eu vents with leftover turkey 🦃 White sauce with chicken bisto granules added. Sounds grim but is a delight albeit a stodgy one. Sausage rolls, turkey sandwiches & buffet bits. Yule log forced down as we will probably feel sick by then.

Boxing Day is leftovers & Rennies.

gunting · 18/12/2016 18:02

Bacon and duck egg sandwiches for breakfasts (DH strange tradition)

Prawn related starter

Late lunch of chateaubriand and all the trimmings

Dinner is usually cheese, crisps, cake, etc

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 18/12/2016 18:08

Dh insists on cooking huge piles of scrambled egg and smoked salmon or bacon on granary bread.

As our dc are older and Late risers this is madness as only just at over three hours later he's then dishing up turkey and the full works then sulks when everyone eats hardly any.

The evening is for picking if you can really manage anything else. But still expected to cook mini quiches and sausage rolls that then spend a week in the fridge before being thrown away. Blush

notagiraffe · 18/12/2016 18:22

Breakfast is smoked salmon bagels and bucks fizz.

Lunch is homemade artichoke soup, homemade bread and cheese with salad.

We eat Christmas dinner in the evening - no starter - turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing, parsnips and carrots, sprouts and broccoli, roast potatoes, cranberry sauce and gravy.

Pudding is Christmas pudding or chocolate log.

DC eat chocolates all day long. I never actually see them do this, just the empty wrappers when tidying up.

ivykaty44 · 18/12/2016 18:26

Real sourdough bread toasted with jam

A few nibbles and olives running up to lunch at 2.30 ish

Christmas pudding and a homemade Blackforest roulard for pudding.

Supper is a cheese board, biscuits celery and grapes

Boxing day is bubble and squeak with cold leftover meat

EagleIsland · 18/12/2016 18:31

Bacon egg and pancakes for breakfast.

Lunch is the usual turkey dinner.

Cheese, biscuits for supper.....washed down with blueberry moonshine

Coffeerun · 18/12/2016 18:33

Breakfast is smoked salmon, scrambled egg and bagels with champagne

Will eat Christmas dinner about 3pm, will be turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, sprouts, gravy

Pudding will be Christmas pudding, I'll have warm brownies and ice cream

Evening snack is cheese, crackers, dips and nibbles.

Boxing Day is a fry up in the morning followed by potato wedges with leftover turkey and nibbles.

Longdistance · 18/12/2016 18:33

Smoked salmon scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Dinner, no starter as I make a huge gammon with crackling, roast potatoes in goose fat, and sprouts with bacon, honey parsnips, carrots, cauliflower, Yorkshire puds, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls with gravy.

Pudding is Xmas pud, and s chocolate trifle.

Later if anyone is peckish, a cheese board with fancy crackers and port to wash it down.

Breakfast is accompanied by oj, dinner we will have champers, white/red wine, beers.

BubbleFairy · 18/12/2016 18:34

Hot cross buns and strawberries for breakfast (children's request)

Beef and gammon roast for lunch

Cheese, olives, crackers for tea

BubbleFairy · 18/12/2016 18:35

And pudding is either Christmas pudding with ice cream, or vienetta this year, both options available

BubbleFairy · 18/12/2016 18:35

And we have bucks fizz for brealfast, prosecco for main, and amaretto and Bailey's for tea!

ALemonyPea · 18/12/2016 18:37

Bacon sandwiches for breakfast with Buck's Fizz

Chocolate and mince pies

Then fish starter, turkey with trimmings and a cheesecake for pud, or chocolate cake

More chocolate and Christmas cake

Then cheese and crackers with more Christmas cake and mince pies for me, DC usually have tinned ravioli (some odd tradition we started 6 years ago and it's stuck with them)

RatOnnaStick · 18/12/2016 18:38

Brunch, either pastries, eggs, toast, coffee or some form of bacon and egg sandwich job, then a buffet tea at PILs. No roast dinner for us til 28th at mum's house (unless I do some chicken on boxing day)

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 18/12/2016 18:46

We have Christmas dinner on Christmas eve.

Christmas day eat lots of buffet style frozen party selection box thingies. Cooked, obvs.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/12/2016 00:35

Late breakfast of bagels, smoked salmon and cream cheese.

Followed by gallons of Buck's Fizz and various nibbles, no actual lunch (except for any tinies) and trad dinner (usually no starter) at about 5, with lots of roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, Chr pud, a Christmas fruit compote for anyone who doesn't like pud, fruit and cheese.

Later, leftover turkey, plus gammon, salad, mince pies, Christmas cake, etc. for anyone to pick at if they want. But hardly anyone ever wants much later.

PeteSwotatoes · 19/12/2016 00:53

Going out for dinner, and I'm vegan so it's this:

Roast Celeriac Soup
Sourdough bread

Bubble & Squeak Hash Cake
Caramelised brussel sprouts, roasted onions, kale and pumpkin seed pesto

Caramelised Pineapple Clementine Salad
