Just watched her make this and wondering whether to give it a go for Christmas Day. Anyone cooked it?

I have - it was lovely! Very easy if I recall - don't think I cooked it in the bird though but on the side

EvansOvalPies · 14/12/2016 11:23

I made it a couple of years ago - it was absolutely revolting and ended up on the bird table.

PotteringAlong · 14/12/2016 11:23

Yes! I did it on the side too. Well worth it.

It's a strange recipe but think I'll go for it. I keep imagining Joey from friends saying, "meat:good, cake:good!"

I did it as a side dish too, in a terrine dish I think. I followed the recipe to the letter, but no-one liked it (possibly I did something wrong). Xmas Sad

NotAPuffin · 14/12/2016 12:22

I've made it every year since the book came out. My parents detest it, everyone else refuses to contemplate christmas without it!

PotteringAlong · 14/12/2016 12:33

Give it a whirl - worst case scenario you only need to make it this year!

eckythumpenallthat · 14/12/2016 16:25

It is amazing. DH Has made it the past 2-3 years and it is delicious, especially cold on a leftovers sandwich. The only thing I'd say is the recipe made quite a lot for even a 2lb loaf tin so we've learnt to half it

happy2bhomely · 14/12/2016 16:36

We love it here. I prefer it cold with left overs on Boxing day.

If you like things like bacon and maple syrup, sweet and salty, then you should enjoy it.

Ouch44 · 14/12/2016 18:57

We love it! It does make a lot though. Might half the recipe this time
