The best friend in the world

I have an amazing friend. She's a single mum to three young kids. Works shifts including night duties (her mum watches the kids). She is incredibly generous with her time and energy even though she has little to spare. Her youngest child is also disabled. The children are 5, 4 and 2. Her husband walked out when her youngest was ten weeks old.

I'm in a different country to her so I need to buy her a gift that I can get online and get it delivered. I've left it late because I've been so unsure what I can get. I can spend up to £150. She doesn't have the free time for spa day type packages.

Please, how do I make her feel special and appreciated?

I would get her a gift card and get it delivered to her house.

A luxury food hamper?
A collection of her favourite things, perfume etc?
Artwork from, or limited edition or rare copy of favourite book?
Piece of art?
One of those personalised books with your memories, thoughts and feeling about her?

A kindle and an Amazon card so she can add books onto it.

Thorntons chocolate hampers! Yummy!
Also what about cinema or theatre vouchers she could use either with some or all of kids or with a friend!

Sod Thorntons - Hotel Chocolat or Charbonnel.

Is it possible to give more of an idea in terms of her interests? And country?

Diamondsandpurls · 14/12/2016 16:59

Are you thinking just for her or for her family? For the whole family maybe a zoo pass or similar or for her a gift voucher that only does adult clothes/makeup etc so she has to spend it on herself.

If she's in the UK, a years membership of National Trust is a great gift. So many places to take kids and free entry & parking. A godsend for me when I was a young single parent and money was tight.

She's in the U.K. All brilliant ideas, thank you. I'll get a gift for the kids too but I wanted to get something just for her. Something indulgent!

I don't think of love a gift card or hamper. They are nice but not wow or special to me. I like the idea of NT membership of money is tight or a family photo shoot with picture or nice piece of jewellery maybe engraved?
She sounds incredible!!
