Do I have to make one each? Or can I just send a tin full in?

Well I assume so, they won't let anyone eat one if there isn't enough to go around. Make mini ones

We're not allowed to send home made stuff now. Strictly shop bought. Ostensibly so they can check labels for allergens, but I think dodgy food hygiene in some households also had something to do with it.

For a class of 30 I would make 12. There is always loads of food left over...

dalmatianmad · 13/12/2016 18:34

It wouldn't occur to me to make 30! I would make a tin full on the basis that not all of kids will have one and also I would assume that other mums will be making them too Xmas Wink

Check with the school. Ours specifies enough for x children (usually five or six, I think) as multiple children will be allocated buns or crisps etc.

Ye Gads no. One normal size shop bought Victoria Sandwich, job done.

How ever many you can fit on a paper plate so 8-12!

SillySongsWithLarry · 13/12/2016 18:43

If 30 children brought in 30 food items they would be expected to eat 30 things each. 8-10 is more than enough.

SellFridges · 13/12/2016 18:45

Ours asks us to bring enough for 6 children. I'm sending a couple of packs of Mr Kipling.

Artandco · 13/12/2016 18:58

Our would expect 30 cakes

There wouldn't be 30 of everything but an item like that yes as can't really divide

Grapes - a punnet
Crisps - two large sharing bags

Cakes - one each
Juice cartons - one each

LunaLoveg00d · 13/12/2016 19:02

Just send a selection. Think this through - if there are 30 parents, all sending in 30 items, each child will have 30 items to eat which is FAR too much.

Bung them a packet of mini rolls.

Make a tin of chocolate Rice Krispie cakes? There should be enough of them to go around

I moaned to one of the TAs in my son's class that I had been asked to make sandwiches for the year 1 Christmas party once (this was many years ago when homemade food was allowed). She told me I should be flattered. She was in charge of sending the food requests home, and only mums who she thought would have clean kitchens and an understanding of food hygiene were asked for sandwiches or cakes. If asked to send crisps or biscuits it meant the school staff thought your hygiene standards may be questionable.
