Probably stupid question of the day....

So we are hosting this year and I'm trying to figure out the timings for our meal. We are serving a starter at about 2 so I imagine the main at 2.30. Do we have everything ready (including vegetables on the hob) ready to go before sitting down for the main? Or will that make the vegetables horrible!

Sorry, I'm sure it is a stupid question! Blush

I'd say 30 mins is quite long to eat your starter. I'm going to plate up the starters, put the veg in to the boiling water then there's 10 mins before I have to get up again.

I get the veg ready during the morning, put in serving bowls and blast it in the microwave as everything else is being taken to the table.

Oooh, like that Roses.
Does it all heat through properly, without going all soggy?

Yes.

The microwave 😳

Depends how your doing the veg, roasting is handy, boiling shouldn't take to long, maybe 20 mins max.

I like mine roasted with honey, bacon, walnuts etc.

I do as much as possible that can go in Aga or oven as soon as back from church. Cauliflower and broccoli cheese, Red cabbage. Then roast parsnips and carrots. Only need to reheat sprouts in microwave to be ready. I do peas at last minute as I am sering rest of stuff. I part roast potatoes day before and then just re roast for half an hour. You can't tell the difference and makes for easier washing up. Bread sauce and stuffings also made a couple of days ahead.
