But would be most miffed if he received nothing Confused
Age 60, late year birthday so already had this drama once recently (dc's school photo in a frame and new hat and gloves solved that one).
Doesn't drink. Doesn't like fancy/spicy food. Doesn't drive or play sports. Doesn't like cinema/theatre or those kind of events. Doesn't enjoy going out to eat.
Likes gardening and home improvements and the finances to buy everything he should need for those interests.
Help, basically!

RHS membership?
Garden Centre vouchers?

Whatever he likes - the nice version? Eg if he likes tins of tuna, get some really swanky ones. Likes milk chocolate - get the best... etc.

MotherOfBeagles · 12/12/2016 20:50

we bought my in laws parlour games as they like to play different card games of an evening. Would anything like that work?

voucher/trip day out to a decent garden centre? My local garden centre has this gift where they get 20% off when their first purchase there, 10% of second, 5% of third to fifteenth for the year. could you find anything like that?

Agadooo · 12/12/2016 20:53

Amazon Echo Dot £50- you plug it in and you can ask it questions about anything, facts from history, weather outside, anything-you can also ask it to play any worldwide radio station and it does it-it's all voice controlled.

I know you said he doesn't like fancy food but any chance he likes cheese? You can get nice tasting boards around this time of year.

Or maybe a book about simple DIY projects you can do in a day.

My dad is like that, impossible to buy for.

Private Eye subscription?

girlywhirly · 13/12/2016 13:47

Subscription to Gardening Which? Magazine. Articles include reviews of the best on test tools, mowers, composts, etc and also best plants, new varieties and how to deal with diseases, pests etc.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 13/12/2016 13:50

I'm now up to three Private Eye subscriptions - they just roll on every year!

givemushypeasachance · 13/12/2016 13:53

As others have said maybe a gardening magazine subscription. If you don't think he'll read it, then maybe some gardening gloves or toiletries or nice biscuits and the rest in garden centre vouchers.

TheWantedOne · 14/12/2016 13:08

If you're thinking magazine, look at Readly. I recently subscribed to it for £7.99 a month and I love it so much that all of my 'difficult' relatives are getting gift vouchers for it. I promise I don't work for them! It's brilliant as there are so many different magazines on there. Have a look.
