Christmas Budget?

Does anyone actually have a christmas budget?

I have no idea what I will spend in total, hundreds for sure, including food and treats. I don't have a set figure to work to- please tell me I'm not alone.

I don't.
It costs what it costs. I buy for a massive amount of people, have 3dc of my own, having 18 to dinner. The meat alone has cost nearly £200, there's absolutely no way I actually write anything down or set a budget beforehand.

I have a budget. We save all year, around September/October I speak to family about whether we're buying for each other, children etc, and then I work out the total cost. i try my best then to get everything for about 25percent less. Christmas is a big deal for us, we have a large family and then we both have lots of siblings so we wouldn't be able to not budget.

We dont budget. We try to get everything when on offer and I often pick things up months ahead.

I have a budget. Food and presents. I save all year for both. Its huge but I can afford it and I dont get into debt.

When finances have dictated we've had a budget and sometimes it's been miniscule.

Last few years we've been more comfortable so I haven't felt the need and tbh I'm a but scared to add it up, but I've never borrowed to cover Christmas. Always taken the view that if I can't pay for it I can't afford it.

No budget here! Just keep spending til I run out! I'm not good with money though so I don't suggest anyone takes advice from me. I do like to splash out at Christmas though and spoil the kids a bit.

Yes I have a budget I guess most people do even if that budget is "spend untill skint " unless of course some has Infinite amounts of money

I definitely have a budget! I couldn't not have. Shock
I make a list of everyone I'm buying for, which has been vastly cut down over the years; decide the maximum I'm going to spend on each person; write down everything I've bought them, with exact prices; and tot it all up. I make a note of my spend and set a target for next year. I also do this with birthdays. I save a monthly sum all year round for gifts. I keep lists of Christmas (I don't send these every year) and birthday cards. The one thing I always forget to factor in is postage though, so that's what I'm working on this year.

We've done really well this year. We've saved DH's overtime for three months and haven't even spent half of it. I've finished shopping (I don't think I ever have this early!) and the food is ordered. I'm feeling quite smug.

Dontwannabeabadmum · 12/12/2016 12:17

We have a vague budget! I know roughly what I wanna spend on people whether it be as a couple or individual people and we do generally stick under that amount! Food we generally go out so never have to worry! About to pop out dc1 so I know will have to factor that in next year as we're planning on staying home!

We don't have a set budget for specific things but presents for kids (one 8 year old and one 6 year old) usually costs around £800, Christmas all in (including tree, family presents, food, Christmas eve party, kids activities etc) I usually try not to go north of £2k
