Knitted Christmas Stockings - where to buy?

I really like the look of these stockings

But wondered if anyone knew of any other places that sell different designs? I would need 6 different designs, which is another reason why I like the ones I linked to; the price, however, is a bit steep x 6!!

Alas, I am not a knitter, nor do I aspire to be one.

Thanks.

Lands End do nice stockings - probably more needlepoint than knitted, but very traditional. There's usually a 20% code knocking about somewhere too.

I got some discounted Boden ones, about £15, but only two designs.
Matalan had some cheap ones with letters on them, ie A for Alice.

I always turn to eBay for hand knitted goods. Lots of different ones on there at reasonable prices.

You may already have considered this but worth bearing in mind that intarsia knitting (where you use different colours in the same row) will have threads on the back of the knitting on the inside, lots of little loops of colours which are being carried across between the stitches where they shown on the front.

Speaking as the voice of experience, these can be a total nightmare for filling stockings as the presents get caught on them on the way in (and similar in reverse on the way back out!!). If you're planning on using them as stockings rather than just decorations, I'd be inclined to try to see them before you buy to check whether they have lining/see if it looks like you'd be able to use them easily. Fighting with 6 of them wouldn't appeal to me!! (Though i do think they ate lovely!!)

Thanks for the recommendations, all.

Canyou that is a good point! I wonder if I could line it with cotton; I can sew, just no knitting.

Lining knotted stockings is a great idea!

We have beautifully knitted stockings I bought on the internet and I hate them Xmas Angry

Ruddy tardis nightmare things, making stocking presents look small and miserly, no matter how huge the pile, and catching loops on any corners or slightly odd shaped parcels... I try and bear up and think of them as the dark side of xmas to balance out the joy Xmas Confused Xmas Grin

(Learn from my pain, please please don't do it to yourself!)...

Matalan have great ones really big with appliqued initials. They are in store or online.

The matalan ones

You could use a cotton or a lining fabric but I'd also be inclined to consider a jersey or something else with some stretch if you're confident dealing with it as a non-stretchy lining might make the stockings look a bit odd when filled because youd expect a knitted stocking to cling to the gifts a bit.

I just ordered a needlepoint one from Lands End with a £5 discount (SHOP25). Really wanted a Chunki Chilli one but they are a bit pricey!

I got lovely fair aisle Boden ones last year, this years are lovely and discounted at the moment. Etsy I bet will have loads.

C0dy · 13/12/2016 07:53

I got the matalan ones after Christmas last year (paid £2.50 a stocking I think!). I am actually really impressed with them, the inside is lined to stop snagging and they can fit more presents than you'd think.

SerialReJoiner · 13/12/2016 10:21

I think I might try to grab a few stockings in the post-Christmas sales, too. We have some cheap ones that will work fine for now, but I'd really like heirloom quality stockings.
