She has clothes, books, more toys than she needs, and really doesn't need or want anything. Yet her brother will have presents and expects her to have some too. What on earth can we get her? I think she would like me to wrap up chocolate cake, but I can't really do that!!!

A big box of balloons?

YouCanDoThis · 10/12/2016 00:21

How about consumable things that she can enjoy on the day. Others will have better ideas but maybe things like bubbles, etc.

DorothyL · 10/12/2016 00:25

Vouchers for experiences the whole family can do - symbolised by something,,ie lego for Legoland, toy animal for zoo , bucket and spade for beach etc?

Do you have outdoor toys, might be an option to think ahead? Balance bike for example?

DorothyL · 10/12/2016 00:28

Swimming costume, swim ring?

Twolittlejobbys · 10/12/2016 00:35

Pjs, new bedding, jigsaws never go amiss,

stressbucket1 · 10/12/2016 00:38

Dress up stuff? Thats what I have for dd2. Dd1 already has everything else she would want.

Izzy82 · 10/12/2016 01:06

A bean bag?

I have a baby this year so am wrapping up some of DS1's old baby toys (that have been in the loft so he doesn't remember them) just so he can see that his brother is getting presents too

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 10/12/2016 01:12

DS is 2 and I know what you mean! We're getting him a fisher price pirate ship which was reduced, a balance bike, some duplo, a car transporter with little cars in it, a couple of books..... and some other bits. I've tried to match it as closely as possible so he isn't getting less than his big sister but it's hard when they just don't really care and the big ones really do

SpaceDinosaur · 10/12/2016 02:00

Any toys she already has but doesn't play with much yet that you can rewrap?

Kittykatmacbill · 10/12/2016 07:43

Won't she develop / want play with diffferant toys as she gets older? surely you just get her things/clothes/toys/books to grow into?

Randytortoise · 10/12/2016 07:46

Why can't you wrap up a small chocolate cake?
Also outdoor toys are a good idea.
Pop up tents or arts and craft supplies that get used up are good.

Sixisthemagicnumber · 10/12/2016 07:46

If she has plenty of age appropriate toys already them get her a couple of things for the next development phase then you can just put them away after opening until they are needed. Kids develop so fast when they are little that it's always wise to buy things for the next stage.

Sixisthemagicnumber · 10/12/2016 07:48

And what about one of them cardboard play houses that she can colour in. It will only last a few weeks and then get thrown away but she will have loads of fun colouring it in and playing inside it.

livinglooney8 · 10/12/2016 07:54

Cardboard car that is also a book. You can sit in it. Hours if amusement.

BingBongBingBong · 10/12/2016 07:57

Clothes, bubble bath, hair accessories, PJs, craft items, bike, scooter, magic flannel, bath toy, a couple of toys she can grow into?

wejammin · 10/12/2016 07:59

We've gone with magazine, sticker book, crayons, a fridge magnet set

BikeRunSki · 10/12/2016 08:01

They've got those big board books that turn into buses/submarines etc in Aldi at the moment.

polkadotdelight · 10/12/2016 08:02

Sticker books, play doh, paints, kinetic sand?

Dressing up clothes? I've bought DS (also 2) some different hats as he loves his firemans hat quite cheaply off amazon.

We have bought him a toddler size basketball net and adjustable stand - your other children could play with it too?

polkadotdelight · 10/12/2016 08:04

Mind you after reading this thread I am off to Aldi later!

midnightlurker · 10/12/2016 09:19

Ooh, lots of ideas! I will get some balloons, bubbles, and a sticker book. Will also look for a cardboard house - she would love scribbling on it. I guess I could put a cupcake in a tub and wrap that too! Santa is bringing more sand for the indoor sand pit and some paint pens.

She has loads of hand me down toys so the next stage of those is well catered for already, same with clothes.

Craft stuff and craft kits? Consumable and can be put away until she's older :)

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/12/2016 09:38

when my dd was this age I got stuff from charity shops to open etc, so she had a lot, i mean without sounding cruel, if your dead agaisnt new toys, just buy some second hand super cheap, and then give them back to the charity shop after, if she doesnt seem particularly taken with any?

Misty9 · 10/12/2016 11:45

I have a similar issue with my 2yo dd! She has only asked for a mouse that can tickle me and moves Grin

I have just thought of getting the ikea balance beam for the playroom as she loves balancing and climbing. She also has a wow toys rocket and a microphone.

Yika · 10/12/2016 12:06

Also from Ikea: cardboard shop, costs about a tenner, brilliant value.

I think it's nice to get some toys new even if she has many hand-me-downs. How about some new accessories for an existing doll, or an add-on set to existing duplo for example.

Practical things: torch, scissors, snack box, backpack, luggage.

Or personalised things: crockery, towel, pencil case?
