Present ideas for my dad

He is in his 80s, rubbish with technology, doesn't really leave the house much as his mobility isn't great at the minute and has type 2 diabetes so he can't eat anything with sugar in it. My dm has requested no more bottles of wine because he already has more than they have space for!

I have bought him gift sets of tea, coffee and cheese in previous years which went down well but it seems like I'm buying him the same thing every year! He's fussy about what clothes he wears and books he reads, so I don't feel confident giving him those.

I would appreciate any suggestions. He's so difficult to buy for!

He is tricky. What sort of gifts does/ did he like to get other people? If he gives money or practical gifts I'd go down that route. Maybe bird feeders for him to watch the birds if he can't leave the house.
He he comes up with something special for you every year then that's problematic. Not on the high street for ideas. A pillow or cushion photo on of somewhere he likes.
Something like a funny film to watch and make him laugh?

Thanks Reveal.

He doesn't buy presents for other people because he's not great at that kind of thing, so my dm does all the present buying and always manages to get us really good gifts. Though even my dm doesn't know what I could get him.

I really like the film idea...might try something like that. He's not great with the dvd player - I think they store books on it atm but maybe dm can help with that.

I'm going to use the cushion idea and get the dcs to decorate a plain one for him.

Amazon gift voucher? That way he has the pleasure of choosing his. Own books....

Thanks for the ideas. His reading material is...difficult to find. Very very specific subjects and they often need to be tracked down to some random bookshop somewhere and bought for £££. I'm not even going there Grin.

I do know the shop he buys his clothes from though so I could get him a voucher from there if I can't think of anything else.

He'd probably like a recent photo of you (and your family?) - he probably has lots of you when little but not many now?
Is he the sentimental sort? Dear Dad, from you to me (Sketch design) (Journal of a Lifetime) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1907048456/ref=cmswwrtwwapi_db0sybKVXG776 #Amazon
