Electric scooter help!

I've only just purchased the first Christmas present. An electric scooter for DD and just about to order one for DS. However I feel I might have panic bought? Not sure if they're too little for them and where can they ride them? Anyone else bought an electric scooter as a Christmas present this year?

How old are they?

They pick up a lot of speed!

There's a boy on our road who got one for his 6th birthday. 1st time out on it he crashed in to a wall and his tooth went through hos bottom lip. Blood everywhere!
Not seen it out since.

Yes we need to know the age. They do go fast will they be able to control them so they don't hurt themselves or others? Will they have somewhere to ride them where they aren't a nuisance to pedestrians?

any electric vehicle including childrens scooters are illegal to ride anywhere apart from private land with owners permission. so not allowed on public pavements, roads or parks.

Sorry didn't realise anyone had responded to this. Thank you. Mine are almost 6 and 7. I was completely against them, thought they were to dangerous and pointless as they have bikes and regular scooters already etc. One of their school friends had one and the mum convinced me they were safe and great fun-he used to ride it to school and DCs thought it was awesome. That story is horrible, plus I am not even sure where they would ride it tbh if everywhere is illegal as our garden is uneven. Purchased from Argos so pretty sure I could return them but now have no idea what to get them. Whats similar but a bit safer? I've looked at the ride on cars but they all seem for smaller children. Anyone got any ideas?
