I need ideas. I do an annual hamper in which goes a festive dvd. I had bought the polar express but i watched it today to check it out and I just think it would cast doubt in her mind. Which makes me wonder when would be the right time?

Anyway what films are good for a five year old? She's very savy so I'm wanting to avoid wonderings about FC. Have seen Arthur Christmas, Flight of the reindeer and Tom and Jerry along with lots of Mickey Mouse.

Thanks for the ideas. We've seen most of them and have a lot on DVD already which is why it's so difficult. I've ordered Nativity for the hamper so hopefully it will fit the bill - trailer looks good! Thanks for the ideas.

I wouldn't go for Elf if you are worried about her starting to question Father Christmas. We love the film and it's hilarious but there is a bit where the older elf explains to Buddy that there are rumours that Father Christmas isn't real and that people think it's the parents who put presents in stockings. I was watching it with my children last weekend and I just froze when that bit came on and hoped they wouldn't catch on to it too much. My 4yo didn't really notice, but my 8yo started asking questions Sad. Great film but I wish I could cut that bit out!

Love Arthur Christmas and we've got the Muppet Christmas Carol this year for our Christmas eve viewing.

I'd have the same reservations about Elf the movie as mentioned above even though I adore the movie. They have a version of Elf which is a cartoon version of the musical which doesn't mention anything about doubts. It's fab. My two - 5yrs. & 3yrs adore it. Also the shorts - Prep & Landing it's by Pixar as far as I know and it's fab we tend to watch it before bed on Christmas Eve. I'd second Arthur Christmas too.

Mine love the cat in the hat does Christmas (or something like that, Dr seuss anyhow) and it has very annoying catchy songs Xmas Grin

The older Grinch animation is brilliant. DS has loved it for years.

How about Home Alone? It's PG so you'd need to check that one out too.

Or go really old fashioned and look at Miracle on 34th Street.

my FIL & his wife thought Mr Poppy from Nativity films was Marc 'The Beast' LeBete from The Chase Grin

'Oooh, we like The Beast. We saw him acting daft with a load of kids in that Nativity film'. Errrrr, no you didn't!
