What about some Orchard Toys games? Pop to the Shop is good for numbers, yiu have to work out the cost of items. My 5yo likes it.

Otherwise a calculator (or a toy till with a calculator in).

Foam letters and numbers to stick in the bath?

Junior Scrabble game.

Box of magnetic letters and numbers.

ELC used to do number snap cards, but that was a while ago!

Giant calculator, DS was fascinated with his for ages.

Dice/dice games like this or just a selection of different shaped ones.

Kids suduko or wordsearch type puzzle books. Poundland had some festive puzzle books last time I was in.

Uno

Whiteboard & pens (crayola do washable ones)

my DS is obsessed also, things that he has liked include
giant calculator
sum swamp board game
Wordsearch junior game
this year we have also got him a game called think word - but not played it yet!

Have a look at the Happy Puzzle company, they have loads of good word and number games. My 5 year old is the same, I have got him the Mobi game, a bit like bananagrams but with numbers instead of letters.

pimmsy · 06/12/2016 10:01

triominos! or uno?

My 5 year old likes playing Bananagrams. It's more aimed at older children/adults, so she sometimes needs a little bit of guidance, but I have seen they now have a junior version. And there is also something called Pairs in Pears, which is similar, but a bit easier, and comes in a green bag that looks like a pear.
My DD loves that bananagrams comes in a yellow bag shaped like a banana.
Boggle is also good fun - again maybe a little advanced at the moment, so you might have to tweak the rules a little, but good to grow into.
