Trampoline surprise

So, DC have asked for a new trampoline for Christmas. Great. Obviously we are getting them some other bits & bobs. We Defo won't have time to construct the trampoline before the big day...thanks for that John Lewis!!!! So, how can I represent the DC main gift (which will still
Be boxed up in the garage ) under the tree? Previously I have done a little paper jigsaw / treasure hunt for another outdoor present. Just wanted a new idea...

How old are they?
Is there really no chance of you putting it up for them? Won't they be very disappointed at getting a present they can't actually play with?

Thingvellir · 05/12/2016 11:25

But the Dad in the JL advert manages to put it up on Xmas eve - are you sure you are trying hard enough?Grin

I would put a big bow on it and tell them to go look in the garage at the appropriate time assuming the box has a picture on do they know what it is (not very original though, but this is how my DC will be given their bikes this year...)

They are 13 & 10. It's a 14ft tramp! We are hosting a lot of people here Xmas eve. Maybe I can work some magic with Photoshop and a pic of a trampoline

How about a couple of cuddly toy foxes/badgers? Label them as CLUE and see if they can work it out?

whensitmyturn · 05/12/2016 11:46

It honestly doesn't take too long to build a trampoline. We did a 12 foot with just 2 of us and it wasn't bad. What time will the kids go to bed?

If you're hosting I bet if you've got a few adults some of them would help get it up if the kids don't go to bed too late, especially if you're providing them with booze just get a sober person to be in charge of instructions!

Like Bries idea. Cuddly teddies are on their lists too. ( just need to make sure they see the advert lots of times between now & Xmas day)

id put it up Christmas eve once they were in bed, if you've got visitors get them help. they dont take long put up

Me and DH built our 12ft trampoline in just over an hour and then another half an hour to put he net surround on and my DH is really the most useless specimen when it comes to building anything. As you have people over you could probably rope a couple in and have it built in Christmas Eve in around an hour. Kids like to play with their stuff on xmas day and it would be a shame if they can't.

When your guests arrive withhold all food and alcohol until the trampoline is built Grin

Do not under any circumstances do the trampoline after alcohol

PineappleExpress · 05/12/2016 16:18

Definitely get the guests helping. Make it a trampoline building/Christmas Eve party Smile

My mum and her friends used to spend Christmas Eve playing on our new computer games so she knew how to help us when we got stuck on Christmas Day. That was her excuse anyway Grin

And a word of warning - when you attach the trampoline pad to the frame do not attempt to put the springs on in a circular motion as you won't get it to fit - put the first Spring on and then do the one exactly opposite and so on until you have them all done. I know a few people who have tried to attach it in a circular motion because they didn't read the instructions and it ends in lots of swear words and cursing about the pad being too small Xmas Grin

Well at their ages they will understand, I was thinking younger and imagining them being frustrated at it bit being up. But I agree with the pp who said get guests to help!
