What stocking fillers will your dcs be getting?

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 04/12/2016 08:47

I'm at a loss this year.
They'll be getting a book and some sweets and a Lego mini figure but not sure if/ what else?
They've got tonnes of stationery bits and pieces.
They don't have 'collections' to add to.
I don't really like giving them stuff just for the sake of it - I'd rather it was something they'd like or need or is useful iyswim. (I loathe party bags and their associated tat)

Inspire me please!
Even a trawl round tiger did nothing to inspire me. 😳

I came on here for inspiration for ds 10
This yer I'm finding it very difficult! My dm also dies him a stocking and is asking me for ideas! I'm finding his teenage brother much easier!
So far I have: hot choc sachets, hand warmers, gloves, toblerone, mini scooter and a gun sheild.
I need another 4-5 items
Might do beano comic! Thanks for that idea!!
Last year I did soap foam so could repeat that I guess.....

Some great ideas here I'm going to save this thread!

DD (3) has a bat and ball, twistable crayons, Frozen Bubbles, Frozen hair towel, Frozen chocolate, Frozen knickers (yes she is a big fan! Grin), a peppa Bath Squirter, bed Socks, Bubbles and a magic princess Facecloth

Baby has a couple of buggy books, couple of teethers, a rattle/ball thing, bath book, Thomas the Tank cutlery set and Thomas magic facecloth.

SouthWestmom · 04/12/2016 21:06

We always buy a couple of list items and then some other things. About £80 each on stockings. This year for example ds (14) has aftershave, a high street 'designer' t-shirt, a speaker pillow and a pre filled stocking from Hawkins. Via Black Friday and price comparisons its come to £90.
The younger ones have Uno, game pieces for Disney infinity and the pre filled things plus a couple of list items.

confuugled1 · 04/12/2016 21:08

As well as lots of the items already mentioned I try to put in pants, socks and a t shirt to be worn on Christmas morning.

A comic also hoes in; for those thinking of the Beano, they currently have their Winter Special issue out at the moment in addition to the weekly comics which would make for a longer read on Christmas morning...

Currys/PCW have Sandisk memory sticks on offer with a free cinema ticket and apparently 6 months of free music streaming, starting at £9 for 32gb which would be nice for older kids - practical and great added bonuses. Plus although they are small, they are on a card pack so take up more space.

I'm going to get dc1 a survival bracelet from eBay - about £3-5, with several metres of survival cord, a compass, fire starter, screw driver, kindling stick etc within it. Probably ought to call it a wrist band as he wouldn't want to call it a bracelet Grin

Mine always have a cuddly poking out of the top of the stocking unwrapped. This year ds1 has Darwin from Gumball while ds2 has the Kinder plush fox having had several of the other kinder ones over the year - they come with some kinder chocolates and usually cost a fiver.

Satsumas have been replaced by an inboxed chocolate orange after a nasty encounter with ds1's Christmas satsuma lurking in the depths of a hidden corner of his bedroom the following spring!

They also are getting light sabre toothbrushes (£1 in Home Bargains) which are supposed to flash for the required brushing time, a 20p pack of tissues printed to look like £20 notes, a couple more weird bits and bobs from HB (they have some good unusual sweets), some Lego mixers or a small Wilko Lego equivalent set, and a tin of nice drawing pencils from Wilkos again for a couple of pounds - again something ds1 needs for school.

JellyWitch · 05/12/2016 19:18

DS 7: Pokemon soft toy; colouring book; novel; chocolate; satsuma; crystal growing thing from Tiger; lots of cheap tat Pokemon figures; socks; kaleidoscope; glittery bouncing ball; mini Lego set; pencils; pull back racing car

DD 2: chocolate; satsuma; sticker book; story book; soft toy; wooden animal; socks; kaleidoscope; bouncing ball; mini duplo set (probably won't fit); pencils; pull back racing car; hair bows

TinklyLittleLaugh · 05/12/2016 19:23

OneMoreForExtra · 08/12/2016 13:28

Our family does huge stockings. I tend to hold back on essentials from the summer onwards and then fill the stocking with next year's batch of socks, pants, gloves, hats, shower gel, bubble bath, toothbrush, PJs etc. Then it's a case of topping up with books, games, cards, sweets and novelty stuff.
