So we started the elf on the shelf this year. We thought it would be a bit of fun. Me & DH would enjoy making the mischief and DS would enjoy finding it......
Apparently not.
DS who is 6, is terrified of him. He will not go near him. Screamed and cried yesterday when he found the elf in his room.
Right now, the elf has wrapped toilet paper around the christmas tree and DS is refusing to go in to the living room.
We've sat with him and explained that he is a friendly elf, etc. and he's startimg to drive us a bit nuts!
So the elf is going....
Has anyone else experienced this?

Relatives of mine do it for when the kids come home from school instead of in the morning, would that be n option?

Have you thought of trying with a different elf? The American ones are really creepy but we have a really cute one from The Elf Company and my kids love him.

not spend the rest of his life terrified of elves

My mother is terrified of Munchkins, it hasn't really affected her life Smile

You biggest mistake was mentioning it on here...My FB is filled with lots of antics the kids are enjoying..

I have an anxious child and removing everything that may make them anxious is never a good idea..It. reinforces there was something to be anxious about..It sounds like your letter is a good approach and wish you luck...

Our elf is not allowed upstairs as DD2 didn't like it much.

She is much happier knowing it doesn't watch her while she sleeps and now loves looking for it in the morning.
