walkie talkies split between DCs stockings - help me steal the idea from here!

I came across the idea on here a while ago of splitting a walkie talkie set between two DCs or two stockings. My DCs would love it! But I am clearly a bit behind the rest of you in only just starting to plan such things, so would love some advice about which walkie talkies you've found to be a good buy. There seems to be a market in branded kits, but DCs are not big fans of specific TV programmes / games so pretty much anything would do, as long as it works. And isn't too pricey - definitely a nice 'extra' rather than their main present. Any recommendations, please!

We have the Binatone Latitude 100 Twin Walkie Talkies

We picked up orange Motorola walky talkies on Amazon for €12. We decided not to get Paw Patrol/Cars/Minions-whatever as they were all more expensive and had fewer features. And they looked crap Grin like they'd stop working after 5 minutes.

Sorry, i'm on my phone not laptop, so i can't tell you serial number etc. But if possuble, go for the most realistic possible.

We were given the binatone latitude ones but they're are loads of buttons and even now (at 4 and 6), the DC find them over-complicated and fiddly. Someone else gave then the Durable Walkie Talkie for kids, and that is so much better. So, depends how old your children are, I would say.

Get proper ones if you can afford it! Most of the kiddie ones are crap, and to be close enough to hear the other person you can hear them anyway.

If you can get decent ones with a good range I guarantee they will be "playing" with them for years longer, and you can even use them when they are playing out to "contact the mothership" Grin

Binatone Latitude here too, although the 150's as we liked the docking station for charging and not loosing them.

Kids seemed to get the hang of the pretty quickly, we've only needed to change the channel if we're away from home so most of the buttons they ignore. I think they were 6 & 8 when we got them to replace a kids set which had terrible reception.

Thank you! It sounds as if a 'toy' might be a poor investment especially if the branded things are of no interest to DCs anyway. I'll do a bit of online searching for the ones suggested above now that I'm not looking for a needle in a haystack.......

Motorola & binatone over the years for us too, 1 set came from a tool catalogue

We had some, can't remember which make and model but they were very simple but very clear and awesome (bil gave the kids one handset each). Best thing was, one was green and one was red so they always knew whose was whose and there was no arguing when we lost one of them.
