Just that really. How much do you spend on each person e.g. Child, partner, mum, dad, siblings etc

DP - about £100
Dc - £300 each ish
Nephews/Neices x6 between £20 and £30
Mil and my mum £60 ish each
Db, sils, bils (x6) about £20 each

Fuck

SilenceOfThePrams · 29/11/2016 15:02

£5 each on nieces and nephews and a few friends' children.
£5 each on tiny gift for friends (home made biscuits, cheap smelly candle, that kind of thing)
£20-50 on children including stocking stuff
£10-20 on parents and siblings
£2-5 each on thank you gifts - school staff etc.

SagelyNodding · 29/11/2016 15:21

I spend about 100 per dc. Dh and I do token presents, so maybe 25-40 maximum.

My siblings 15.
Nieces and nephews 20-25.
My parents probably 15-20, but I really struggle to find ideas for them so maybe more.

We don't go crazy over the present buying as the DC have mid-December birthdays and are getting respectively a 'proper' bike and a 'proper' stunt scooter among other things, so at least another 150 each there.

QueenofallIsee · 29/11/2016 20:01

£400 each on the children (laptops this year for school and DD has had a car for her 18th so big price tag stuff)

£30 ish each on extended family. More like £50 on my sister Inc Cursed Child ticket which was a stress to get hold of. Mind you I buy what I think they will like not based on price

£200 ish on DH

NoMudNoLotus · 29/11/2016 22:07

Wow. Just wow at the amount people spend at Christmas .

We aren't a low income family but have never spent more than £150 per child.

Catsarefluffy · 29/11/2016 22:18

Dd4 400
Ds9m 150
Dd 280
Everyone else 20 pound each

Catsarefluffy · 29/11/2016 22:18

It's been a hard year that's why it's so much

3amEternal · 29/11/2016 22:34

About £300 on DD. Clothes and beauty products mainly.
£100 to 150 on DH
£60 on mums x 2=£120
£25 aunt
£20 max on children in extended family x 6 =£120
£30 on pets
= £745 (ouch)

BeastofCraggyIsland · 30/11/2016 01:23

DP £250ish on presents to open, we've also booked a holiday to Iceland over NY as a present to each other
DM £150ish
DSD £100ish
Dogs £60ish (between 2)
DGM £40ish
Cousins £20 limit x2
Close friends £20 limit x2
Friends' DCs £20 x3
Work Secret Santa £10 limit

Quite a lot, but we don't have DCs and can afford it. Christmas has always been a big thing in my family, more so than birthdays.

jojomii26 · 02/12/2016 00:11

No DC's for us yet Sad

But for my nieces and nephews - £10 gift vouchers for game, steam, h&m and primark. £100 total as there's ten of them! Rather give them vouchers than cash because teenagers just fritter it away on mcdonalds lol!

We have a rule not to buy for adults (my sisters and brother) so we do secret santa which is £10 budget.

my mum £15 m&s voucher and the alfie boe and michael ball cd £10

mil tesco f&f card £15. fil £15 amazon card.

DH uncle, aunt and one niece - £10 amazon gift card each. (DH very small family, mine large!)

Less than £200!

DH and I aren't getting each other anything this year. We're saving for a house and to be honest, there's nothing we actually want.

PutDownThatLaptop · 02/12/2016 00:21

£250 per DC and for DH
£80 per parent (3)
£20 per nephew/cousins' children
£50 siblings

PinkCrystal · 02/12/2016 00:23

Between £60 and 80.but sometimes more of want a TV or X box etc. I have 5 DC.

EddSimcox · 02/12/2016 00:35

A crazy amount for the DC. They've all asked for proper pricey shit this year and DP says we can so we are: £200 - £250 main present, plus probably £80-£100 on "stockings" (each x3). Others (nephew, parents, SIL etc) £50 approx each (x 5). DP and me won't get each other much. We always say we'all have a weekend away or something, but rarely do. So over a grand. And cooking for 10 for 6 days, could be another £500 I guess. Fuck. Why did I count?
I have bought nothing so far !

ohtheholidays · 02/12/2016 00:57

Our DC(5 of them)upto £450 each.
DH about £300-£350.
Mum when she was still with us about £100 sometimes more, now we buy a nice Christmas plant for my Dad to have at home(,it became a tradition from when I was about 20 I'd buy my Mum one every year.)and we'll buy a nice little ornament for the garden in my Mum's memory or for in the house and we take some really nice flowers to the grave,so about £40 now.
Dad the same £100 upwards.
My Brother about £50 when he was married I spent the same on my SIL.
Nephews and nieces all bar one have DC now we spend between £10 and £15 on our Great Nephews and Nieces and the same on the Nephew who doesn't have children yet.
My Aunts and Uncles(3 sets)a joint present about £10 each.
Mil and FIL about £100 between them.
Great Auntie,DH's side £30.
Nan,DH's side £40.
My BF upto £50.
Gifts for Teachers,TA's and the classes upto £100.
We also buy gifts for our 3 Dogs(toys and treats)the Cat(toys and treats)for the 2 Rabbits(toys and treats)my Mum's and Dad's Dog and my Brothers Dog and MIL's Cats(the same as our pets)about £70 all together.

So to bloody much Smile I do love Christmas though,it was never a very happy time for me and my DH as children so we've tried to make sure that we have lots of nice traditions for our DC,that we do nice things together as a family near christmas some free some that cost us,that everyone has some nice presents and that we have nice food to share with one another.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 02/12/2016 01:07

it varies year by year to be honest. this year Ds is getting an expensive piece of tech but thats all he will get, which he knows and understands. everyone, else it depends on what they've asked for and what i can afford to budget for the things they would like. I have a very large family so i shop and then store, year round to cut the cost so i do in fact appear to have spent far more money than i really have. no minds though that i budget and shop that way as everyones always happy with what they get.it's a little pointless for em to talk actual numbers because it varies so much year by year

whogrewoutoftheterribletwos · 02/12/2016 01:28

Wow. People spend a lot! This year ds is getting an xbox, but that's it - and is by far and away the most expensive present he's ever had (he's 10). He really doesn't need to accumulate more stuff. Dd will get a bike - probably around £60-80.

I baulk at the idea of spending as much as some on this thread on presents. But that might be because my mother got me a video tape every year and a chocolate selection pack. Spending over £50 feels grossly extravagent!

AmyC86 · 02/12/2016 05:52

DH - around the £200 mark
Parents- £50 each x4
Siblings from both sides & partners £15 each or £30 as a joint gift. X8
Niece & Nephews £15 each. X4
DH grandparents £20
Nephews Nan (randomly always gets us a gift £10)

So all in all, roughly £600- £650.

Openup41 · 02/12/2016 11:34

£50 on each dc

Dh and me do not exchange gifts

Several years ago dm, dsis and other family agreed not to exchange gifts. This year I may suggest a secret Santa.

We travel early next year so this has been our priority. Smile
