We will be

Chocolate and champagne early am

Bacon rolls and coffee

A fish starter. May be prawns or salmon or lobster.
Turkey and all the trimmings - DS request. I'd really prefer steak and chips
No dessert but cheese, biscuits, chutney and port all evening.

Don't usually have breakfast beyond a coffee and mince pie whilst opening pressies. Lunch is homemade soup, probably mushroom but maybe tomato, pork Wellington, the usual veg, roasties and accompaniments, a break then christmas pudding and cream/custard/ice-cream at tea time. Last year DC 1 made an amazing spiced orange ice cream to go with the pudding - how I imagine heaven would taste.

We're in Oz but we still like a roast dinner even though it's boiling! Doesn't bother us..we have air con!

Pudding will be Aussie Christmas style tho....pavlova...Christmas cake...fruit and ice cream.

SharingMichelle · 27/11/2016 06:12

The kids will eat chocolate, satsumas and nuts for breakfast.

I'll do eggs a bit later.

Then sherry and Christmas music while everyone pitches in peeling veg and setting the table.

Presents once lunch is doing itself. Probably with crisps and a glass of wine.

Trad lunch.

Walk in the afternoon.

Fend for yourself for supper.

Coffee and croissants for breakfast, probably cinnamon buns too.

Crisps, olives etc around 12, plus Bucks Fizz.

Dinner around 2.30, fairly simple. Turkey, Yorkshires, pigs in blankets, roasties, sprouts, carrots, parsnips, cranberry sauce and gravy. No sweet, creamy, cheesy or spicy sides.

Christmas pudding or icecream for anyone who wants it around 6 (often no one bothers). Cheese and crackers also available but again, often go largely untouched.

Fresh baked pastries with presents.

Brunch - bacon sandwiches, more pastries, bucks fizz - when everyone's back from their outdoor swim or mass, and visitors.

Choice of prawn cocktail or soup
Turkey, 2 stuffings, chestnuts, gravy, roasties, parsnips, sprouts, peas and carrots, pigs in blankets.
Homemade Xmas pudding & rum butter, custard, cream. Trifle.

Maybe a turkey sandwich or cheese if anyone's hungry later.

Boxing day breakfast - cold Xmas pud spread with rum butter and leftover cream. Star

I'll be heavily pregnant this year so no booze for me, but for everyone else I'm serving:

Buck's Fizz and homemade pastries for breakfast. (Will make them a week before & freeze)

Lunch: crab pâté on toasted brioche to start, with mushroom pâté for the veggies, then butternut squash and Stilton Wellington with a port sauce or maple and mustard glazed ham cooked in ginger beer, with all the trimmings. Pudding will be marmalade panettone bread and butter pudding, and Christmas pud for those who want it.

Supper: cheese board and gin and tonics.

littletike · 27/11/2016 07:26

It's just the three of us this year so I'm not going to bother much with breakfast - might get some Xmas tree shaped crumpets for DS and bacon sarnies for us.

Lunch I'm thinking turkey and beef, Yorkshire pudding, spiced red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, honey roasted carrots and parsnips, runner beans, cranberry sauce, gingerbread stuffing and sausage stuffing. No starter and Christmas pudding and ice cream for dessert.

Sandwiches for dinner if hungry later.

GoofyTheHero · 27/11/2016 07:49

Full english breakfast and champagne for breakfast
Steak and chips for dinner
Cheese board for dessert

GoofyTheHero · 27/11/2016 07:49

Oh, spiced parsnip soup for our starter

verytiredmummy1 · 27/11/2016 09:36

It's our first ever Christmas where we don't go to someone else's for the day. So it's

Pastries for breakfast
Smoked salmon for starter
Turkey and trimmings
Christmas pudding or choc pudding

Nibbles in evening

Out of interest what do you get ready in advance? We're new at this! X

ednabuckett · 27/11/2016 12:50

Loving this thread it's given me inspiration for changing things up a bit. Loving the sound of buttered leeks.

Very - we make the Jamie Oliver get ahead gravy a week or two in advance and bung it in the freezer. Everything else I prep on Christmas Eve really. I cook nigella's ham in coke the day before too - that's lovely for buffet in the evening/boxing day.

MrsBertMacklin · 27/11/2016 12:55

Brioche French toast with Greek yoghurt, blueberry compote and a Kir Royale.

Salmon on soda bread with champagne.

Pork belly with red cabbage, sauerkraut, dill potatoes and apple sauce.

Cheese and crackers, with a piece of a Christmas cake.

Lebkuchen and stollen
