NES mini

On the back of my other thread I think DS would love a NES mini, but they are sold out everywhere - well apart from on eBay and Amazon where sellers are charging over twice their retail price. Anyone know where I can track one down or have heard when/if they might be back in stock?

In stock now at tescos

MWestie · 29/11/2016 23:40

If anyone's still looking for this Nintendo mini I've also just been able to order from Tesco direct, after haunting various sites over the past few weeks. Fingers crossed it's genuine.

MixedUpConfusion · 29/11/2016 23:45

I pre-ordered two ages ago from Smyths. They had problems getting stock (as discussed everywhere) but I had a phone call today saying they are now in and ready to collect

MixedUpConfusion · 29/11/2016 23:46

*As DID everywhere!

MWestie · 29/11/2016 23:51

Hope you get them with no problems Mixed, will be delighted when I have that box in my hand and hope my DS actually likes it!

HallowedMimic · 30/11/2016 06:59

I think the NES needs an Android type charger, not the iPad type.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 30/11/2016 07:43

Oh that's strange as we've always used the same chargers for both iPhones and Samsungs. It's only the USB lead that changes and the NES comes with a USB lead I think?

I use the same charger for my camera and kindle too.

AveEldon · 30/11/2016 10:24

Yes it comes with a USB lead so any USB charger should work

insan1tyscartching · 30/11/2016 13:05

Have picked mine up from Argos today. Was worried I wouldn't get them as the money only left the bank today in spite of it being a fast track it was anything but order placed five days ago.
Is there anything else I need to buy? I want them up and running on the day so to speak.

ALemonyPea · 30/11/2016 20:15

I think the thing that is missing is the actual plug, mad it's a USB type one, so any plug that has a USB port will do.

Musicinthe00ssucks · 30/11/2016 20:51

I finally got mine for DH from Tesco after checking Stock Informer for weeks. Hopefully will be delivered between tomorrow and Monday.

CJCreggsGoldfish · 30/11/2016 20:55

I want one for DH but despite checking various websites numerous times daily, I'm yet to be lucky enough to bag one! I really have no idea what else to buy him.

winterisnigh · 30/11/2016 21:02

can I ask why they are suddenly a thing? I thought it was hatchimals and only became aware of them on the bargain thread!

glad you got yours op.

ALemonyPea · 30/11/2016 21:03

It's retro gaming. Nintendo, Sega and Atari have all released little console with x amount of old games preloaded into them.

winterisnigh · 30/11/2016 21:06

why would people want to go back though, when modern game things must be so much better? eg is like getting pack man?

RumAppleGinger · 30/11/2016 21:11

Nostalgia? I still love all the games I played as a kid. Also DS1 is only 5 so the Mario platform games are perfect for him.

Last year the museum has a retro gaming exhibition with over a hundred playable arcade games. We went several times and it was always packed. There were even queues at the most popular games (mostly full of adults in their 30's).

PonyoLovesHam · 30/11/2016 21:33

Well I got mine yesterday, and am using an iPhone plug to power it!

Dd age 5 is already playing mario and Kirby Grin
I agree it's just fun retro gaming, no wifi needed as well!

Upsetmummy27 · 30/11/2016 21:35

What's the sega version called?

insan1tyscartching · 30/11/2016 21:43

Well adult ds can report that it's amazing. He is loving playing all the games from his childhood and can see himself playing it more than his playstation. He keeps sending me photos and asking if I remember them and funnily enough I do remember a few even though I never played them. He's planning on getting his mates round to play tournaments and reminisce once he's got snacks from back in the day. Maybe an idea to get snacks for a hamper alongside, ds is remembering transformer crisps, skips, monster munch, space raiders, foam shrimps, hubba bubba etc

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 01/12/2016 07:50

Not sure why it is proving to be so popular. I hadn't heard of it until I posted another thread asking for present ideas for my nearly 10 yr old. Someone suggested a NES mini and it was just perfect. He is a big tech geek and he and his friends love all things retro at the moment - games, controllers, mobile phones. He has loved watching Go 8-Bit on TV too. It is a huge surprise for him and I think it will be a hit.

Sega megadrive

DS2 has autism and is obsessed with Mario, he saw this way back in July and has been asking for it since then. I'm so glad I managed to get one. Also got a sega for DS3 as he like Sonic.

sushisack · 12/12/2016 10:11

I don't think I'm ever gonna get hold of one Sad

wheezles · 14/12/2016 19:31

I want one so bad :(

sushisack · 14/12/2016 19:42

I'm still holding out for them releasing some stock soon but not sure how realistic that is. I've prepared my dh to be disappointed!! Sad
