This is a really lovely wee set of cook books - I have them all (as well as all the other Avoca books) and I use them a lot - have also given them as gifts before and they've always gone down well. The Year at Avoca is also a really lovely book - great recipes, beautiful pictures and is hardback so looks more substantial!

My Quiet Rebellion socks have arrived for my StepDad- love the packaging!

My first Hype parcel has also arrived and everything in it is wrong! The navy sweater is the wrong size and the burgundy sweater is the right size but wrong design and is actually a tshirt!

Ladies, I need a pair of women's winter slippers. She doesn't want sheepskin, as little leather as possible if at all, warm and comfy but with a proper sole, so that she can use them all day long. Carrot I totally agree, steer clear of iwoot. They took something ridiculous like two months to sort out a straight forward return and replacement for something faulty they sent me which involved at least a dozen emails on my part chasing it up.

Probably not so much for Christmas gifts, but Aldi currently have their Ski event on. Lots of good (and bargainous!) adults and children's ski wear. They also have merino base layers too, which are brill for anyone outdoorsy.

Selling out v fast though, so be quick!

Cataline I'm surprised at your Hype parcel, I was just coming on to say how impressed I was with them. I ordered DS some joggers and a sweatshirt on Thursday night using the 50% code and they arrived today along with a sticker, a Hype ribbon lanyard and a bag of Haribo (which were swiftly eaten to hide evidence you understand) as freebies. I'll definitely order direct from them again.

NES mini seems to be popping up quite a bit on stockinformer in lots of different Argos stores. Definitely worth checking/setting an alert if you're still after one.

LBOCS2 I'm sure she's not cooler than you! If she likes luxury make up and travelling, how about a luxury travel item like an Aspinal passport holder or luggage tags? You can get them personalised and they should still be within your budget. Not something you use every day, but a nice treat that she might not think to buy for herself.

They have some lovely homeware stuff which is a bit cheaper and they have 30% off selected lines until midnight tonight. Otherwise I got my DM some luxurious slippers one year which she loved. Would that work for your DM?

I was surprised too as they've always been so good. I did point out when I emailed them that everything else was great (including the little freebies!).
I have more parcels due to arrive from them this week so hopefully they'll be ok and they can sort this one out. I have checked on the website and the sweater id ordered (that they'd replaced with a tshirt) appears to be sold out in the size I need though.
