Naming the Elf

Oh joy! This is a great place!
Our Elf has arrived. The dcs already know he's here (because dh can't keep his mouth shut) and he is to make an entrance this evening. I would like to name him obviously FC will have named him and I'm stuck. Looking for inspiration for Elf names please.

Almostenglish - our elf arrives at the front door the night before 1st December. DH puts him outside while I'm getting DS1 ready for bed, rings the doorbell and legs it back inside. We open the door and there is the elf on the doorstep. He has a letter from Father Christmas to DS1 setting out why he's come to stay and that he hopes DS1 will be good. The first year his letter said his name so DS1 didn't name him. He also has an advent calendar for DS1.

He goes back to FC on Christmas Eve, while DS1 is getting ready for bed and he leaves a present of new pyjamas and a Christmas book for him. He also leaves another letter explaining that he's had to go back to FC to help get the sleigh ready and that he hopes to see DS1 next year.

Once he went back to FC mid-December for a night, to let him know that DS1 was being a bit cheeky, but he left a letter for DS1 explaining where he'd gone. DS1 was very well behaved after that!

This will be our 4th year of our elf, DS is nearly 6 and he looks forward to him coming to stay so much!

Thank you Millie! That's what I wanted to know! I think I'll follow this to the letter, can't wait!!

Our elf is called Jimmy. Not Christmassy at all! I was heavily pregnant with ds when he arrived - DH was determined to call the new baby JimmyConfused but I refused we compromised that the elf would be called this. He is now part of the family!!

My DC named ours Steve Christmas-Lights Hmm

He arrives on the first Sunday in December (we put our tree and decs up on the Saturday) and sets out a North Pole breakfast for DC. He goes home Xmas eve and leaves the Xmas eve boxes.

Where is the best place to get an elf from?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/11/2016 09:55

I have bought an elf this year for ds1 who is 4. I'm not sure how we'll cope with the elf going back though, do you just leave him for Santa to take back with him?
B&m have some gift boxes with 'delivered from the north pole' on them which I might get for him to arrive in!
Hadn't even thought about having to name him- watching thread with strangely high level of interest.

Ours is named Stewie after Family Guy

MillieMoodle · 20/11/2016 10:00

Nibbling- we got ours from eBay. His official name is Christopher Pop-InKins and he came with a book as well. He's really good with mouldable arms and legs so he can hold onto stuff.

Almostenglish - we love our elf, he makes the build up to Christmas really special. DS is so excited to wake up every morning to see what the elf has done overnight!

Thanks Millie

Nibbling card factory had sets cheap, about £4.99 I think. They came with a door, book and glitter,

They had lots of elf things including this sign £1.49

OOh, I like the idea of the box arriving from the North Pole.
And I think our Elf will return with Santa on Christmas Eve. I might leave him with the mince pie so Santa can take him back after filling the stockings.
I'm not overly keen on most of the intro letters I've seen online. I need to create something more friendly/ less threatening.

Better ours just said something like "hello X, my name is Lilywhite and Father Christmas has asked me to come and stay with you until Christmas so that I can check you are being good and report back to him. We will have lots of fun together and I am looking forward to staying in your house! Love from Lilywhite xx"

Bettersleepoutdoors · 20/11/2016 16:33

thanks Millie
