Big clean before decorating?

Does everyone do a big clean/declutter before the decorations go up? If so when do you start this?

I'm going to be putting my decorations up on the 1st as usual but not the tree until a week before Christmas (I had a Christmas baby so want to start the tradition of putting it up the night of her birthday)

I'm thinking of having a massive declutter mission tomorrow in preparation for the bins being emptied on Friday then next week begin room by room. Does anyone care to join me?

I have started decluttering and down stairs is looking pretty good! A lot of the junk ended up being taken upstairs and so now upstairs landing is like an obstacle course I need to make time to take it all to the charity shop. Hopefully this afternoon once DH is back from work.

My bedroom is full of clothes. DC bedroom is full of toys and clothes. I'm dreading Doing their room as DDlikes stuffing everything under her bed when she's 'tidying' so god knows what I'm going to find under there!
