dd age 2.5 present yes or no?

Any opinions welcome. Have been racking my brains what to get dd 2.5 - her cousin of a similar age is getting a children's tablet - can understand my dsis reasoning for this but don't want to go down that route for dd.

Instead I've been buying lots of craft things (glitter sets, googly eyes, pipe cleaners etc) and was going to put a huge selection in a wicker box with wooden initials of her name on the outside.

A lot of her bigger toys (dolls cot etc) I've managed to buy for different birthdays etc very cheap (wooden dolls cot for a quid for example) so dont feel she really needs a big flashy 'main' present but not sure if the craft box would be a goer.

Any thoughts? Smile

brogan that is so lovely. My dd got a tea set, and pram on her second birthday, she plays with them over and over.

DS is 2.3 and he's getting mainly happyland bits (farm, cottage and rocket farm was half price and was all 3 for 2) and a peppa pig park and he also loves toy story so he's getting a woody and a buzz that I got in a sale. So he isn't getting any 'big' present like a bike or scooter or anything but 3-4 of his presents will have the wow factor for him ok Christmas morning. He's also getting things like welly socks with characters on and extra cutters for his play doh, a few puzzles and books etc but he will probably not be that fussed on Christmas Day but will be when they're used for the first time after then - if that makes sense?

Basically I want him to be all lit up and excited in the morning and for DS craft bits wouldn't work, but it might for your dd.

I agree - my ds would have been excited by a craft box as present at 3 and a half but not before.

I think it's a lovely idea in addition to something else.

If a tablet is at one end of the scale, I would say a craft box us at the other and there's a lot of wiggle room in between.

I think a craft box is lovely. Try not to compare yourself much to others.

Mine is getting bits and pieces including wellies and shoes which she will love and books which she will also love. There is no understanding of a "main" present at this age.

Kiddies camera? My DD had one for her 2nd birthday and I would say at about 2.5 she started using it more and loves it. My daughter's favourite toys at that age were:
Play kitchen
Balance Bike
Scooter
Happyland

I think my DD would feel a bit disappointed with a craft box as much as she loves crafty things. You don't have to buy new, for my DD's first birthday she had a load of 2nd hand toot toot drivers.

LynetteScavo · 17/11/2016 22:07

She'll want to play with it straight away though... do you want to spend all morning doing craft activities?

All my DC liked ride on things at that age. Or a play kitchen/tea set play food.

Playmobil and Duplo Lego. So much creative and learning potential i.e. Playmobil Noah's Ark.
(My DD and I have enough craft stuff to start a shop. DGS has never shown any interest in making, painting or anything 'craft'. Anyone want to have it?)
