FWIW, we have a hatchimal (DD1's 4th birthday today) and it has gone down an absolute storm. I know they're expensive plastic crap (much like everything else they want) but she has been playing with it since 7.45 this morning. I can't remember the last time a toy held her interest for this long!

And they are marginally less annoying than a Furby.

• something light enough to post to America that looks a lot more expensive than it really is for super generous dear old friend. I've done scarves, bags, wraps, gloves and jewellery so really running out of ideas. I have some nice little package fillers but I need a main present.

That ikea deal is generally quite a good one, the trees are apparently pretty good quality.

In past years the voucher was only usable in Jan (so you had to go back) and for some reason, Croydon never runs that promotion

Has anyone seen recordable story books? I bought some years ago from a Hallmark outlet but I can only see them on the U.S. site or eBay.
