How to gently let down a four year old :(

My DD (4) originally wanted a Pony Cycle for Christmas. As we simply do not have the space, I persuaded her that Santa wouldn't be able to bring one as there just wasn't enough room for it and after a number of months (!) she accepted it and decided she will ask for a Zoomer dog instead. There are two problems -
One is that the reviews for the Zoomer dog are terrible. They don't work, don't charge, break easily, don't respond to children's voices etc, bad aftersales service etc.
The second problem is that presumably due to the above issues, they seem to have stopped selling them and it looks like it was replaced with the Zoomer Chimp.

But she wanted the dog. I asked her if she'd like Georgie the dog who looks pretty ok but she already has two similar type dogs and she doesn't want Georgie. I showed her Zoomer Marshall (Paw Patrol) and she isn't keen. He seems to have limited functions he doesn't appear to roll over etc and she just doesn't want him.

What do I say/do in this situation please? She has her heart set on him and I feel guilty because I have already said no to Pony Cycle........

Get the pony cycle :)

If you are going to get another dog, get a real one Grin

We don't have the space outside either (suburb house). She produced quite a list today and if she gets the ponycycle that would be it really apart from a few cheap bits and pieces. Her list is costing the same as the pony cycle but we really don't have room for it to be used properly. Had a chat with DH last night about it and he would love to get it too. It needs an absolutely flat surface I think and the footpath and road outside our house are rough tarmac and gravel.

Get the pony cycle they are so much fun and I think they would be fine on a pavement.

You'll have to house then. It's the only way.

monkeyfacegrace · 15/11/2016 18:39

*move house

Tell you what, it's my son's birthday on the 25th. I'll give it to him for his birthday, get him to ride it on lots of different surfaces and report back.

Are we bullying you a bit here 😂

😀 I've just read it can't go over door saddles or the strips between doors.

It would be like trying to cycle around our house. Frustrating and pretty impossible!

If they made the wheels bigger so it could be used outside, I'd definitely get it. We'd have room for s rocking horse (or could make room) but that looks crap now in comparison.

Oh my goodness. DD is only going to be 10 months at Christmas so we're no where near getting lists but I want a pony cycle! I do DH! I really do

Lists for father Christmas are not instructions.

Father Christmas might get you something off the list. He might get you a variation of stuff on the list, he might have his own ideas and get you something entirely different. He might have already finished your stuff before he got your list.

Repeat ad infinitum

Wishing the pony cycle came in bigger sizes. About 14h2 should do it. Just thinking about Dd's fave when we tell her we finally caved and bought her a pony Grin

I had to google the Pony Cycle. They're fab!

Florathefern · 19/11/2016 15:50

They are fab if you have enough indoor space or outside tarmac smooth surface to cycle a bicycle properly. Even a leaf on the path will prevent them working properly gravel, a door saddle, even a carpet strip will stop them working or make them likely to topple over.

I wouldn't buy a bicycle for my four year old if she could only cycle it inside the house. It would be very frustrating for her. The pony cycle is similar. Fab f you have enough space inside. I imagine they are brilliant in big American houses. They aren't meant for European houses unless it is a big detached house in my opinion.
