Christmas book suggestions for our Christmas Eve box please

We do a small Christmas Eve box with pjs, drinking chocolate, some activities etc and we usually have a new Christmas Eve reading book to read before the main event of ''twas the night before Christmas. Can anyone recommend some good ones? For ds 5 and dd 3 (and dh and I)!

A Child's Christmas in Wales? The Book People have got a lovely hard-back edition for £3.99 at the moment.

A Bad Start for Father Christmas. I had it as a child and recently bought another version to read to my ds (3) as I couldn't find the original!

Just noticed The Book People's website suggests it for children 9 and over but I'm assuming at 3 and 5 it's for you to read to them, rather than for them to read themselves!

It features a cat and firemen which is very relevant to my toddler's interests, so to me is definitely suitable for younger than 9!

Thank for these suggestions- I'll have a look at them all! We have the jolly Christmas postman- it's been there waiting for a while now but they seemed to young for it last year. Maybe this is its year!

Do you have Alfie's Christmas by Shirley Hughes? Might fit well with the ages etc of your DC as Alfie has a younger sister. My DS likes this one, covers lots of the build up to Christmas/ Christmas activities in a very 'normal' way

Santa is coming to ... ( your town or county) is a bit gimmicky but good fun.
Father Christmas needs a wee! Great rhyming and counting book.

Kipper's Christmas Eve was popular in our house when the dc were that age.

We love Blue Kangaroo. DDs still quote from it at 9 and 13

There are also Lettice the Rabbit and Princess Poppy Christmas books.

I was always rather fond of Lettice.
