Do you dress up on Christmas Day?

Used to as a child, will have new clothes but possibly not full on dressy. At home this year so don't need to make the effort for my mum ( who feels it makes Christmas dinner more of an event) or in laws who are fairly relaxed

We go to morning mass so are generally dressed nicely anyway but the kids would normally have s new outfit & I would maybe have a new top or something. I'd get changed later in the day when evening visitors come over.

We did full on dressy as children. I would if we were going to family but this year it's just the three of us at home with some friends who'll be coming straight from work, so we'll be in jeans and festive jumpers. And I'll be 36 weeks pregnant so comfort is paramount!

At home I like to be comfortable so relaxed clothing if we stay in. Visiting family I'll wear a dressy top, skinny jeans and heels. Don't know why I bother with the shoes as we have to take them off as soon as we get anywhere. House rules!

I like putting on my new clothes and using new make up. I get the DC a nice outfit as part of their present "Santa wants you to wear this".

I have t shirt with sparkly sleeves they tends to come out. Last year mum bought me a bright red festive jumper that housed my nearly full term bump rather well. She said I looked quite ill in it though 🙊🙊

We tend to dress nicely but not formally - DH wears a shirt and tie but not a jacket (or a more casual blazer rather than suit).

I have a couple of options - I wear Christmas jumpers with jeans on other days rather than Christmas Day itself.

I have a navy woolen dress from M&S that I couldn't wear last year ("too dark") which is just below knee length and has a slight swing to the skirt - which I would wear with plain navy heels most likely.

I have a red tunic to wear over black leggings and boots.

I have another navy dress (Monsoon) which is lighter fabric with bright flowers over it, again needs the navy heels. But only if the weather is balmy like last year - too fine to wear thermal layers under it.

I have quite a few other options I could pull out, I will decide closer to the time. But comfortable and semi-dressy will be the aim. Hair done nicely (complete with my bright red streaks for Christmas!), and makeup on.

DD will wear something resembling regular clothes and NOT a tracksuit. I am hoping to move past sports leggings into either nice leggings and a top, or jeans and a top. I know it won't be anything resembling a skirt or dress. She will possibly accept me putting her hair in a plait to make it look nice. (She'll be 11).

Something pretty for late dinner when ILs come. Skirt and tights if it is warm enough, leggings and jumper dress if it isn't.

My DSis goes all out with festive jewellery - think light-up singing snowman earrings

The dog will be wearing a festive neckerchief.

Smarter than norm slobbering stuff, but nothing formal. I usually wear Chinos and a Christmas jumper.

Yes usually always have something 'dressy' on for Xmas day. PJs for breakfast/presents then we all get ready. By 5ish, we are usually full to bursting and very merry so new PJs on

This year I'll be 7 months pregnant and refusing to buy something new which I'll never wear again so it's either leggings and a Xmas jumper (will be tight but still wearable) or maternity jeans and top that I've already got.

Dressy-ish. Last Christmas we hosted and I wore a black suede skirt with a sparkly jumper, opaques and flat boots. This year is at the in-laws, and will be along the same lines - maybe skinny jeans and boots with a fancy blouse.

If we're going somewhere, we'll put on decent clothes but normally it's jammies. DD usually spends the day in dress-ups and will change into a "better" one to go to XP's at tea time.

Definitely dress up for Christmas dinner with DP's family, which is usually in mid-December.

Yes, it's a 'thing' in our house! After I've got lunch started, me and DD grab a glass of cava and head off to my room to get ready. I have a new dress every year - this year I've bought a gorgeous 1940s style one with a pussy bow neck, black with rather festive red flowers and green leaves - and DD wears something new, too. We have carols on as we get ready, it's lovely. I usually put ivy leaves or holly in my hair too. When we're done, we go into the lounge for a 'reveal' in front of DH. He always gets all teary and tells us we're beautiful, then I get a kiss under the mistletoe It's one if my favourite bits of the day! DH usually wears a cashmere jumper or similar - this year I've bought him a beautiful cashmere and silk one in a gorgeous deep heather shade. Can't wait to see him in it!

Forgot to say, we don't even go out - the dressing up is just for us, and it makes the day feel far more special than just staying in pyjamas. We don't have guests either, so it's important to make it feel as out of the ordinary as possible.
