I can't decide what to do! Last year I let ds decorate it and it looked.....interesting.
I know Christmas is about the children but I think I want to decorate it myself again this year!! Just need to decide what to do.

The year before I did this although I also added in some green Christmas trees!

I think I might go for this this year, nice and simple but very sophisticated!

Sorry, havent got a photo - but cover whole cake in marzipan and off white ready made icing then decorate with 3 beautiful and very realistic white silk roses ive had for ages and add a little greenery and fake berries. Looks gorgeous and is so easy.

handsfree I did that cake a few years ago. Very easy and looked good, but when you cut it the little balls went everywhere - cut with care or you will be finding little gold balls for ages.

I did wonder about that aftershock, I might put some icing sugar mix on it to stick them down.

Ahhh, royal icing and plastic trees - these were the Christmas cakes of my childhood Smile

Ahhh, royal icing and plastic trees - these were the Christmas cakes of my childhood :)

We all hate fondant icing, so it's royal all the way for us :)

I stopped using icing years ago. When I still make a cake, I brush it with apricot jam and just cover the top with assorted nuts in a nice pattern, brush again with warmed apricot jam to glaze. Might add a Christmassy sprig on top, and then a tartan ribbon around it. .

My first Christmas cake this year... these all look stunning but thinking I'll go for the tacky bits of plastic look myself... only just started baking, not sure I'm up to making miracles out of icing just yet!

I do marzipan and white icing, rolled out with a star roller and then use coloured ready to roll to do a bow and make it look like a parcel. Then spray with pearl lustre. Easy to do but looks effective.

Aaaah I don't know! I love a retro royal icing snow scene, but I prefer fondant. I've done mini cakes to give out as gifts, so I might do royal for full effect.
