Options for cooking the turkey before the rest of the dinner?

I just wondered if it's possible to safely cook the turkey either the day before or in the morning of Christmas day?

Partly because our oven is pretty small, and getting the turkey finished will create space for the other food items that need oven space, and also because I'll feel better knowing that the turkey has already been cooked and is all ready.

Also any suggestions on how best to store it once cooked would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Turkey is tender and moist in the slow cooker. I've mentioned this before and a couple of people have commented that they don't think it gets hot enough but mine is certainly bubbling and I've done it for about 6 years with no issues. We do a repeat dinner on boxing day with is even easier as I cook all the stuffing and chipolatos on Xmas day and pop the extras of those in with the turkey and gravy on boxing day. We go out to visit friends and leave it cooking, then we get home, chuck the spare roasties in the oven, micro the spare mash and veg and we're good to go.

The advantage of the slow cooker is that the timing is flexible and your meat is ready when everything else is. Very relaxing. :)
