"British" Gift suggestions for Spanish friends DC

Hi,

I have some Spanish friends from my student days. One has 2 DS's aged 7 and 3. I want to get them gifts this year but I don't want it to be something they could easily get themselves in Spain like a global brand so eg not Disney or LEGO but something popular with little boys here that they might also enjoy, but that won't also be lost in translation, so not books or TV tie ins or something that requires lengthy English instructions. Also easily postable. All ideas welcome.

British sweets? Those tiny bottles of concentrated cordial?

Selection of British sweets, e.g. Maltesers, pear drops, jelly babies

Teddy bear with a Union Jack jumper (I got one of these for a friend's DD before, I think it was from Amazon)

Anything with a Union Jack or British landmark on (t-shirts, pyjamas, posters...)

A jar of marmite

Spanish translation of a British book, e.g. Roald Dahl, The Wind in the Willows, Enid Blyton

What about a London bus or taxi ? I've bought some of these for nephews in the past and they were always popular. The City of London train set is wonderful but expensive especially if you are posting to Spain.

I came on to suggest a London bus and taxi set.

I have looked for Spanish translations of British books before for their Mum and my other friend, seems quite difficult.

I got them both Lost My Name books a couple of years ago, as Spanish was an option

How about a couple of "permanent" advent calendars that can be reused down the years?

There's no tradition of advent calendars in Spain, although nowadays you can find some in the shops. Maybe with particularly British designs, like a Robin, which is not associated with Christmas here either.

Corgi do diecast London taxis and buses?

Have a look at the White Company toys - they often do some nice London-themed ones - or GLTC or Cath Kidston. Cath Kidston often have lovely kids' backpacks, pencils and pencil cases etc. in very British designs like London guards or similar.
