What's going to be the best age? Will dd no longer believer at 8.5? I've read loads and loads of threads but there's differing opinions. Ds is very hardy and his birthday is in the November (lots saying the younger ones don't like the cold?).

It's such a lot of money, if we do it we will only be doing it once.

Please can you also all tell me how much you loved it Grin

I've no idea about the father Christmas stuff bit I live in these kind of temps and you'll find loads of cheap stuff on sports direct - base layers (you might want to double up on these for really young kids), snow suits, gloves (liner and over gloves), hats (with ear flaps) etc.
You.could even take a good sleeping bag I you little one will be on a sledge, we use these for babies sleeping outside in the winter.
Have fun Smile

8&6. We took DDs at 7&5 and my youngest struggled. It's not just the cold it's the non stop activities in addition to it being dark most of the day. Don't forget nearly all the trips fly out at 6am so kids will have had hardly any sleep before they get there.

I recommend Saariselka with thomsons - don't pay over £2.5k for family of four as there's always deals. June is cheapest time to book ime.

Avoid transun as reviews are shocking

Get on the Lapland forum on trip advisor it's fab! For mid layers almost everyone had primark fleece pjs for the kids 😁

Don't need any special clothing as all provided

Everyone has a different opinion on who to book with, as ever the ones which look the best are way out of our budget..

If your happy to go for a week by far the cheapest way is to book a week skiing with inghsms but without the ski extras - so just flight and accommodation. All the Santa stuff and excursions can be booked online

Buttercupsandaisies · 30/10/2016 17:36

Be careful with fancy advertising - esprit or Santas Lapland advertise the holiday club as the best hotel in Saariselka. We then booked it but with thomsons - when we got there we visited the other hotels and had some meals I them and it's no way the best!

We won't be able to go for a week because the dc will be at school and I'm not allowed time off work after the 18th December. I really appreciate everyone opinions I think a log cabin, or cabin style, is going to be the best way as it'll be much more 'authentic'!
