How do you decorate yours? Photos please! I'd like a tasteful candle lit table with twinkly lights in abundance but need some ideas!

pastel have you looked online for Spode Christmas Tree? I have a few bits and pieces and buy mine here. I've posted that link on so many Christmas threads I wish I was on commission Xmas Grin

MothersGrim · 20/10/2016 20:09

Oh no Woolley I want to buy it ALL Shock

CakeNinja · 21/10/2016 08:53

My table is 3.5 Metres long, we have 20 to dinner. We have a cloth that was the longest piece of 'Christmassy tableclothlike' material in the shop!
It's 4m long.
No space for centrepieces on our table, what with crackers, wine, 20 glasses with additional 14 champagne flutes, gravy boats, all the side dishes, salt and pepper, yadda yadda yadda.

ChristmasEvePJs · 21/10/2016 09:31

We have two 6ft tablets and 12 plus a highchair last year. I used two white linen tablecloths and slate place mats with mistletoe wreaths filled with church candles. I used our white dinner service and silver cutlery. Each place name was written on a slate heart and sat on top of ochre linen napkins. Bunches of mistletoe hung from the chandelier above the table and the table was dotted and the sideboard was filled with all different crystal tumblers (charity shop) with voile candles inside. Our dining room is white and ochre and the tree was all silver decorations.
We use a separate table for food.

starwish · 21/10/2016 09:58

I love the photos so far. I think I may do a more child themed table for breakfast, then keep our usual theme for Christmas dinner.
ballondog what do you have wrapped round your chairs? It looks beautiful.

starwish · 21/10/2016 09:58

balloondog even.

Thanks woolly I really love some of those pieces and the cheese dish is only a tenner! I have main xmas tree plates and some pudding bowls.

However I adore this range too www.ecookshop.co.uk/ecookshop/search.asp?q=Villeroy+Boch+toy&x=33&y=19

Balloondog · 21/10/2016 10:34

Starwish they're just cheap wired garlands from IKEA. I got them years ago and in a different country but I'm fairly sure they're part of IKEA's standard Christmas stock and show up in one form or another every year. They usually come in packs of 2 if I'm not mistaken.

supercaliforniasurfer · 21/10/2016 11:18

Has anyone seen any nice silver wine glasses anywhere? We have a lovely set of festive glasses but a couple got broken last year and rather than replace them all I thought I might buy a second set and alternate.

Like this (but cheaper!)

Balloon can I come to your house please! Smile we're getting a new dining table so will get one that extends so I can adorn it without cluttering it.

Thinking about it I'm not sure why I'm bothering as we aren't doing a traditional Christmas dinner this year dh and I are having Christmas dinner on C Eve in our favourite restaurant. I got so fed up of the running around and the missing out on a day I too would like to enjoy.

Loving all the photos and ideas! I feel very festive already, too soon to get my Christmas ringtones on my phone? Hmm

It's our first time hosting and can't wait! Our kitchen/dining room is painted grey with blue and cream cupboards so I'm thinking grey table cloth, the Starry Skies table runner (thanks smelly for linking).

I've just bought some festive placemats from M&S with their 20% off code. Santa and Robin design.

smellylittleorange · 21/10/2016 20:56

I love them moosey especially the Robin..just found out my patronus is a Robin actually preens christmas st feathers

GuyMartinsSideburns · 22/10/2016 19:27

Wondered if any of you wouldn't mind helping me out a bit please?

I'm starting from scratch this year and so don't have placemats, tablecloths etc. Our Christmas table has usually been a mismatch of various 'Christmassy' ideas and I'd like something nicer this year.

I recently fell in love with a table runner (of all things!) in Sainsburys so I bought it. It's a very pale beigey colour (sorry I'm useless) with robins all over it. I personally think it's got a rustic-y kind of feel and I think that's what I'd like to go with. The dining table is oak, and I don't think I want a tablecloth on it (plus the table will be too small next year and we will be getting rid). I'd like some nice napkins that are a similar colour to the runner but I don't know where to look Blush, some napkin rings maybe, and some kind of nice decoration. Maybe clear glass candle jars with some fake greenery? I'm terrible with this kind of stuff and I like my table to look lovely for a change. I'm on a budget too so as cheap as possible. Should prob also say plates etc are white.

Any help is most appreciated, I realize this is a bit of a big request!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 22/10/2016 19:28

I see some beautiful things on Pinterest and here but I don't know where to start!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 22/10/2016 19:30

The first picture on here is beautiful. Something similar would be amazing

LazySusan11 · 22/10/2016 20:05

Guy why not make your own bits and pieces, dried oranges with cinnamon sticks with pillar candles in the centre?

Have a look at your local garden centre for some rustic type wreaths or garlands?

Have a look at the poncetastic thread there are loads of ideas on there.

Always do my own fresh flower arrangement, buy the flowers with green from the garden and a candle. Nice to keep on the table and can renew the candle as needed for the days after when you have put away the other Christmas table decorations.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 22/10/2016 20:38

Thanks I'd not thought of doing that Blush I think that would look lovely

torthecatlady · 22/10/2016 21:54

Love the pictures! I must start looking on Pinterest.

For Christmas - We have a tartan tablecloth (John Lewis), a red runner (Sainsbury's), red fabric placemats (Primark) and slate mats on top of them (JustSlate). We have white napkins, but they don't really go. I must get tartan or red ones this year... And napkin holders!

Our everyday crockery is white, so we use that. But we do get out the nice wine glasses, light candles and have crackers.

This year I have bought a mini wooden train to put on the table too and wooden place card holders.

smellylittleorange · 22/10/2016 23:20

Guy Ikea have nice napkins ...no need for napkin rings a sprig of greenery , some red velvet ribbon and a cinnamon stick will.be nice as would dried oranges. Mercury glass motives are sparkly and inexpensive I'm sure you can pick up warmer toned ones at Hobby craft or Wilkos.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 23/10/2016 06:19

Thanks smellylittleorange, I'll make a list of shops to visit!

Juanbablo · 24/10/2016 07:06

Last year we bought a grey/silver tablecloth from B&M and silver sparkly placemats from there too. We had silver crackers and candles. Our living room and tree are grey/silver and shades of teal and turquoise so I wanted the table to match.

Rumtopf · 24/10/2016 07:40

Ours is quite traditional. White tablecloth with white embroidered deer around the edge, a dark silver runner (although it's looking a bit worse for wear now so may replace that), red chargers, silver and bone handled cutlery, white crockery and cut glass tumblers and wine glasses, white napkins. Crackers and one large candle in the centre with foliage around it.

MothersGrim · 24/10/2016 08:25

Ooh, Ikea!
