Argos 3 for 2?

Have a free day today and thought I would start Christmas shopping with toys at Argos.
But wait, I ask myself when will the 3 for 2 on toys be on?
Nothing worse than thinking you are bought and wrapped and then realising you should just have waited a few weeks to save a fortune.

I reserved 9 items today and when I went to collect the discount worked the same as boots do it. So all items were in value order most expensive to least then every third item was free. Admittedly it didn't show up like this on the app but it definitely did in store as it came to less than I was expecting.

ReginaBlitz · 21/09/2016 13:21

So if you had 3 things at £30 and 3 at £20 they took £50 off?

ReginaBlitz · 21/09/2016 13:36

Just gone to the checkout online and it has t done it that way 3 things at £34 it hasn't too £34 off its took something for £30 off!

FranksBobot · 21/09/2016 15:05

Regina I will have to dig out my receipt to give exact amounts but honestly that is how it worked instore for me. The phone app just took off the cheapest items. It wasn't until I paid at the machine in store using my reservation number that it changed the way it had discounted. I only noticed as like I said I was expecting to pay more than I did

ReginaBlitz · 21/09/2016 15:10

I've just tried twice online and its def adding the cheapest items to each transaction.. So for everything that's £30 I get something for &20 free rather than the other £30 item.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/09/2016 15:11

That sounds encouraging Franks. Although I've grouped all of mine into 3's and reserved that way now Grin.

Doing it the "Boots" way does seem much fairer!

FranksBobot · 21/09/2016 15:22

Item 1 - £39.99
Item 2 - £27.99
Item 3 - £24.99 FREE
Item 4 - £24.99
Item 5 - £24.99
Item 6 - £24.99 FREE
Item 7 - £19.99
Item 8 - £19.99
Item 9 - £14.99 FREE

I can put up photo of receipt but it doesn't show the prices of items that ended up free!!

ReginaBlitz · 21/09/2016 17:36

That's right though, what I mean is if I buy 3 items at £34.99 and 3 at £20 they will still only take two lots of £20 off rather than one £34.99 and one £20...

FranksBobot · 21/09/2016 22:48

If that was the case, on mine they would have taken off the 3 cheapest which they didn't once I was using the machine in store.

ReginaBlitz · 22/09/2016 07:34

Sorry yes just realised! That's strange then as not doing it for me online!!

FranksBobot · 22/09/2016 08:58

Regina it didn't do it like that online for me either!! Are you going to pay in store? I used the pay by card machine and that's when it changed the discount. Let me know how you get on if you do go in store

ReginaBlitz · 23/09/2016 16:52

Well the plan was to go I store today.. But son off ill! So will have to re reserve again and hopefully go Monday!
