Looking for some inspiration for presents for an 8 year old boy - like the title says, from stocking fillers to main presents. What are you buying yours?

That's a good idea - DT does holiday academy with the local team and we have been to a couple of matches so he would love that!

Last year I bought turtle Lego from Ali press it was about £15 compared to £30\£40. I was really impressed and DS was none the wiser. The box did have Chinese writing on it but instructions were fine as it was just the usual Lego pictures. It was official Lego from what I could tell.

Yaffle, mine is also into gemstones, that's a good call for his stocking!

Liking your lists, Christy! Going to steal quite a few of them. Xmas Grin

If anyone finds gemstones for a good price can they please link to them on here, pretty please. My DS loves them too but only has a little mini bottle of them. I'd love to get a bag of them. He has a pirate treasure chest filled with charity shop jewellery and it's just calling out for a bag of gemstones.

There were stones of some sort on Hawkins bazaar under the clearance section.

I've just bought a Pokemon watch for £2.10, not sure how great they are but for that price it'll do as a stocking filler. It shines out 20 Pokemon characters. I've never added a picture before so fingers crossed it works.

DS is turning 9 next month. I am a bit clueless as to his birthday, let alone Christmas! I am planning to take him into town and do a tour of the toy shops for ideas.

He's getting quite into "geeky" board games (I blame ExP!) so he'll probably get a couple of those. I am quite tempted by Star Wars Risk but he might be a bit young for that yet.

I have already got him the K'Nex Rollercoaster thanks to the bargain thread here! Also, the Match Joke and Fact Book set from the Book People. I will also get the Match Annual, which will probably be his favourite present for the 3rd year in a row Grin

I am going to look up that "Be a mascot for a day" thing. DS would absolutely LOVE that! Thanks for the idea.

OvO you're a genius. Charity shop jewellery for treasure.

He'll love that. Might not be a Christmas thing, but he will love that. Might take them off the strings. Great excuse to potter round charity shops without cluttering up the house too much as well.

Mine is so hard to buy for. He LOVES football, but he has the all the kit, he has a football goal, about a dozen footballs, Subbuteo (we could add to this but he hardly plays it) and we are kitting his room out football stylee soon so he won't need anything else for it.

He plays board games but we've got so many and no doubt PIL and UIL will be getting him more. He wants a PS but we are putting our foot down for a while because he will want to play on that all the bloody time.

So I've no idea. His little brother is incredibly easy to buy for- he'd be happy with any ol plastic nonsense. But DS8 is so hard!! Apart from the usual PJs, a book (on football) and sweets, I have nothing!

1122christy · 21/09/2016 09:38

Oh I like the Pokemon projector watch! Good idea thanks think il get that as a stocking filler and one for my 6yr daughter.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 21/09/2016 14:45

I just picked up a couple of stocking fillers for DS in the Smiggle sale. I got some bouncy glowing goo, a tennis ball on a tether that you can hang from things and kick (suspect this will be a massive hit!) and a pencil rubber...or a rubber pencil?! Hmm Basically, a pencil but instead of lead it has rubber. It's covered in footballs.

I also looked into the mascot package at our local club but it''s £250 Shock so have shelved that idea.

OvO · 21/09/2016 15:01

It's £100 to dive with sharks at Deep Sea World. Grin

I'm very tempted to buy it for my shark loving 8 year old.

On the other thread, a poster put up 144 Pokemon for £9.99

Didn't have time to post last night. Ds will turn 8 on 23rd December so birthday and Christmas to buy for!

Christmas: he is writing to santa for a new bike so that's his main present. He has also mentioned Cluedo and a light up world globe.

Birthday: I'm thinking maybe a couple of hot wheels sets, but tbh I'm struggling to think of anything!
