Baby's first Xmas

What did everyone get for baby's first Xmas?

He'll be 10mo and I don't want to go overboard. Are a few big things/toys and some practical things (clothes, coat etc) okay? I know he'll not really get what's going on and will just love ripping the wrapping paper up but equally don't want to be stingy by only buying him a few toys, friends seem to have bought hoards for their kids! Help!

They're all great ideas!

Heaven have you got a link for the photobook? I can't fun it (dunno if it's coz I'm looking on a phone...)

Hi you can't see it on your phone. You need to be on the desktop site unfortunately and I couldn't seem to access it at all from my phone. It looks great though. I'm really hoping it will be worth the cost.

One of the Lost my Name books would be nice. Not for baby to chew though!

DS is a January baby so had his first birthday and Christmas closely together. I bought him a couple of toys to play with immediately but mostly bought ahead and a lot of it still played with now nearly 2 years on.

His favourites have been:

Wooden post box with letters (ELC and John Lewis sell almost identical ones)
Uncle Goose alphabet blocks
Ride on tractor (small size)
Plum wooden sand and water table (the water table slides underneath the sand table for storage)
ELC wooden building blocks in different shapes
ELC wooden kitchen walker

Plus lots and lots of books
