I've just started thinking about some ideas for this years Christmas Eve boxes for my dd and dn who will be 3.5 and 2.5.
Looking for Christmas books and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
I remember having a personalised Christmas book when I was younger where I went in the sleigh with Santa and delivered gifts to my friends.
What's your favourite Christmas book?

Mine is Room for One More which is the nativity from the point of view of animals who all need a bed for the night and the donkey is the last to arrive. It always makes me snivel pathetically cry.

I wrote a Christmas book for my niece 2 years ago and got it published. I have a few copied left from some book readings last year if you'd like a copy? Would be lovely if someone read it and loved it as much as our family does. Email me for a free copy: [email protected]
I've only got a few so first come, first served but if you really want to read it, there are some on Amazon via the publisher: www.amazon.co.uk/Emilys-Christmas-Story-Joanna-Goodwin/dp/1326142402

My Penguin Osbert

From Amazon:

Fabulously illustrated by H. B. Lewis, Elizabeth Cody Kimmel's hilarious romp through the land of be-careful-what-you-wish-for offers a whole year's worth of holiday fun magic.

This year, I was very specific in my letter to Santa Claus.

Each year at Christmas, Joe writes a letter to Santa. But they've had a few misunderstandings in the past. Last year, for example, Joe wanted a fire-engine-red racecar with retracting headlights, and he did get one — but it was only three inches long. So this year Joe is really, really careful. He describes exactly what he wants — and on Christmas morning, guess what's waiting for him under the tree! Santa has brought him a living, breathing, black-and-white penguin named Osbert. Will anything in Joe's life ever be the same?

I and my son both really like 'The Box of Delights' by John Masefield. 9+. 4.7 stars on Amazon.

Not particularly helpful but dear god, nothing gives me ovary twinges quite like the thought of reading Christmas books with future babies.

I do love the Night Before Christmas and at one stage my teacher had a book version of the Nutcracker that she read alongside us having colouring pages and playing the music. I also remember having a book about a Christmas Tree that I loved as well. I think I had it when I was about 7/8 so the memories are a bit blurry but I think it was about a scrawny wee tree which may have been partly why I loved it.

Oooh I don't know if I'm more broody for a baby or just missing being a kid at Christmas with all that magic!

Moonrocks that is the best story ever!

We have a musical version of The Nutcracker with buttons that play bits of the music. My DDs are way over the age for it but it's the most requested still!

Albert's Christmas by Alison Jezard, too long for a Christmas Eve book but lovely for the run up to Christmas.
