DH is despairing as to what to get me for Christmas. I've been doing Marie Kondo so really don't want more stuff, though I guess if I can figure out a really nice version of something to replace an inferior version I already have that might work. DH finds it too hard to precisely get my taste/size for jewellery or clothes, and although there are lots of books I want I have so little time to read atm I have a backlog that will take me a year to get through so no more books yet! Things like toiletries or event tickets are bought from joint money anyway so aren't a present from him to me, IYSWIM.

I have a couple of DVDs on my list, a camera case, and a beautiful teapot. Bit stuck other than that, and lots of people will be asking.

So, what are you wanting for Christmas?

I'd actually love new glasses, tired of my current frames.

We are broke but when my mum asks what I want the answer will be some cash on coffee shop cards. I like going to Starbucks or Costa when on way to work etc and this would allow me to enjoy a coffee without feeling bad about spending money on luxuries.

It's very boring but I'm asking my DM for a set of Laguiole kitchen knives!

God I wish I had found this thread earlier. It's my 30th in a couple weeks and although my present budget is £250 the only thing I found to ask for was a cheap necklace. I like sterling silver and really simple jewellery so even a considered purchase ended up being cheap. I've asked DH to put the rest of the budget into a travel savings pot that we can dip into and add to for other presents as that's the thing that really makes me happy.

Poor hubby has been stressed to the hilt trying to make my birthday special and get me something I'd love! In the past I've always been able to give him a nicely rounded wish list, but in recent years I've become harder to please/able to buy myself the things I really want or need.

Although I am thinking of this book for Christmas. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0091944333/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=33X0J6KNBMTGT&coliid=I3H08NED9XXBLS

I love the flowers subscription idea.

Quince I'd also love to know where you find the courses please.

On wish lists/planning 4 months ahead for Christmas, I have an amazon wish list on the go since 2013. I add to it as I find things I'd like, then every so often (normally just before I resend it to DH) I go in and do a cull of anything I no longer love or have bought myself.

I'm mad about sewing at the moment so I will be happy with lovely fabric or a voucher for my local sewing shop.
I'd also like an electric bobbin winder.

I've had some sewing classes and in previous years have had cooking classes - at local cafes and restaurants that offer cookery school stuff too - I think I googled or just happened across it, but if you google cookery class + your location you should find something.

Having recently discovered the joy of doing jigsaws with my children I'd quite like an heirloom Christmas jigsaw to bring out every year in the Xmas holidays.

ridingsixwhitehorses · 03/09/2016 23:28

That sounds like a great idea Noseypoke. How old are your kids? Looking forward to mine being into this but v young at moment

Noseypoke · 04/09/2016 19:16

They're 7 and 9. The house we stayed in on holiday had a big 1000 piece jigsaw which we did together and then I bought DD one for her birthday. It was actually lovely all sitting together at the dining room table doing it after school.

an overlocker.
I won't be getting it, we're skint.

thisislovelyme · 12/12/2020 08:28

Four years later these are still great ideas!

I've recently got into stuff like law of attention, marie kondo etc. And been inspired by various YouTubers doing cleaning routines and living hygge like.

I've asked the OH for a dateless year long journal where you can basically plan every month in terms of goals, habit tracking, make various lists such as gratitude, shopping, budgets etc. And can review and assess monthly. Try and get my life sorted woot.

Df will give cash, dmil will give cash and dh checked today that I will take cash. I am going to take it all after and buy myself some jewellery. I like Victorian/Edwardian so not easy to get here so I am happy to shop for myself.

Or I might look for a new handbag. I always say that a woman can never have too many handbags.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 13/12/2020 12:53

Glossier make up
Nice notebooks - I get through loads
Boden brushed cotton pull-ons for sofa Sundays
A giant-ass Toblerone Grin
A voucher for something nice and indulgent like a facial or a cream tea.
Wool and knitting needles
