With most places already taking bookings where are you going to see Father Christmas this year?

This British summer has me feeling all Christmassy.

We have already booked Lapland UK we went last year and it was amazing!

We are going to try to get harrods but who knows, we managed once before.

I wanted to do legoland but it would be £120 for all four or of us and as we're already doing lapland uk it's not feasible.

So, where are you going?

Wreck Maybe I should have looked at november because 240 is still uber expensive but more doable than the price i saw!

WreckTangled · 04/08/2016 12:07

August November and weekdays are cheapest

Pepa world does look great, has anyone been before does anyone know what ages the rides open cater for I have older and younger DC?

also rough cost and when booking opens, or has anyone been and is it good!

WreckTangled · 04/08/2016 18:45

PPW itself is rides for up to 4 maybe 5. We went last year and dd was 5 and the rides were boring for her. However PPW only takes up about 1/4 of the park if that so there's loads more for bigger ones including the new dinosaur land. Haven't been at Christmas though.

august there are loads of rides for older kids as Wreck says however they don't all open for the Christmas event. Some do but it's mainly geared towards the smaller rides. They publish a list of what will actually be open when the tickets go up so you'll be able to see if you think it's suitable

augustwashout · 04/08/2016 21:48

Notsure, thanks yes its specifically xmas event I need to know for as older will want some rides. not loads but some would be good.
i ahve not been before so hard to tell which rides are suitable.

any idea on costs for it?

WreckTangled · 05/08/2016 07:26

Well if we keep this thread going we should be able to help Smile you can usually tell how good the ride is by the height limit..

I've just been looking at legoland - would be £90 for me, dh and ds6 - he's well into lego but is it a good deal? Is enough open and you can spend enough time there etc to make it work travelling from the midlands?

Methenyouplus4 · 05/08/2016 07:41

In North East there are various train rides, a winter wonderland at Kielder and Beamish is always good (real deer, fake snow, Carol singers in old town etc).

This year are 3 youngest are still young but very mobile and won't tolerate queuing for ages so we'very decided just to go to a lovely local (ish) garden centre where they do a Narnia style through the wardrobe winterlaced with Santa at the end.

Saving the bigger/more expensive stuff until they can all remember it.

MarmaladeTeepee · 05/08/2016 07:58

Methenyou ooh we're in the North East too, which garden centre is that?

WreckTangled · 05/08/2016 08:17

Legoland doesn't have all the rides open I don't think. Maybe Google reviews of it?

Redfox garden centre. Supposed to be lovely.

For the last two years we've been to Squires Garden Centre in Chessington, which is very good and I think DD will love it (the theme seems to change each year), but it's me who quite fancies a change!

Notsure1234 · 06/08/2016 09:23

Paultons Park tickets are available now on the main site as well as the list of attractions that will be open

PrincessIrene · 06/08/2016 09:27

We did PPW with Cubs a couple of years ago and found it very disappointing tbh.

Planning on longleat this year Grin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 07/08/2016 22:23

I've big even thought about this yet.

Anyone know anywhere good in the North West?

2anddone · 08/08/2016 08:10

Can anyone recommend a good (with real beard!!) Santa in central London please?? We are there 18-20 December with a still believing ds 10 and dd 7 they will be 11 and 8 when we go and almost certainly ds last year as he will be at high school the year after!! Is the one at winter wonderland any good? I really need him to look the real deal as the one at centre parcs was useless last year with what looked like a pound land beard!! Luckily ds decided clearly he was only a helper ;)

Happy16 · 08/08/2016 10:01

What age do you think is a good age for lapland UK? I have a 2 year old will be nearly 3 by christmas. Ideas for this age range would be good.

I saw last year a big place that the xue for santa was bouncy castles and toys so the children didnt get bored waiting in the queue but now I can't remember where it was Hmm

FelixFelix · 08/08/2016 10:12

We have booked for one of the Victorian Christmas evenings at Beamish. Dd will turn 3 just before Christmas this year so I'm hoping she will enjoy Father Christmas as she's not seen him before!

Does anyone know when the longleat train tickets go on sale?

2anddone · 08/08/2016 10:16

Happy There is Santa Barn at The East of England Showground, maybe that's what you were thinking of? You arrive up to hour and half before your time slot to play, craft etc and then when it's your booked time you are taken by an elf through to see Santa. We went last year wait was only about 10 minutes if that and the present was really good (so was Santa real beard and everything!!)

WreckTangled · 08/08/2016 12:41

I would wait for Lapland uk. Dd was five last year and loved it. Ds was three and enjoyed it but if you're only going to go once leave it another year or two
