Lego never used to make him swear

We loved Lego when we were kids, me and DH. BUT my brother has bought my 5 yo DS a mountain of Lego City vehicles to make that are far too old for him to make so DH promised that he would make them for him to play with tomorrow and he's huffing and puffing and moaning about my brother for buying such an age inappropriate present and I'm sitting here drinking (obv) and trying to ignore his ramblings.

Also just seen the price still on the box of one crane thing....35 quid. 35 sovs. 35 of your English pounds. 35 quid for a box of little yellow bricks that make you swear. And there are two boxes.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And he's just said "you're not telling them what I'm doing are you".

He means you lot!

I said "no", all innocent like!

oh blimey. DS is playing with the Lego and obviously bits are falling off it because he's not used to it! This is a present that will be finding it's way into the cupboard under the stairs after today I think.

Thankfully my nieces are coming today and they can't wait to get stuck into building the rest!

lego city is suitable for 5yo though, isn't it? My 5yo has been happily playing with his police station and hospital since xmas day. DH and I helped build them, but now he's getting used to the stuff, he's getting on quite nicely by himself. I keep finding bits tho' LOL.

Kbear · 27/12/2006 14:20

Suitable to play with but not to build really, so many little bits that my 5 year old certainly wouldn't have the patience or skills to follow the instructions. It says 5-12 on the box but it's made a grown man cry! (almost). He's still making the other one, the articulated bridge thing!

I am sure those pieces have got smaller!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick with it Kbear - my DS6 adore his lego. He is more than able to build it all too - thankfully

Pmsl we had this on christmas day at the inlaws house 5 year old nephew had been bought maccano. My dp was asked to make it for him because he's an engineer (all be it and electronic one!) well it took ages with lots of huffing and puffing and 2 screws were left over which is standard when ever dp puts anything together whether it's a wardrobe or a toy.

Kbear · 27/12/2006 14:31

Hi Soapbox - thankfully it's all made now. I think a starter kit for DS might have been better rather than the mobile crane and bridge thing so he wasn't overwhelmed with fifteen plastic bags of tiny bits! He loves playing with it though and DH has earned himself Dad of Year award!
