we've just moved into a new house a few weeks ago & about 7.30 I swore to DH I could hear bells. Next minute he comes running back in to the lounge grabs DD shouting to me come to follow. I'm in my pj's, we've all got lurgy. DD is in her nightie with some suspicious spots & has been 'not quite right' since last Sunday. DH throws open the front door it's about 1 degree & who's coming up our drive but Santa , gives DD a selection box from a giant sack of chocolate, asks her if she's off to bed soon & to have a lovely day tomorrow. Lots of little neighbourhood kids following him & some Mums & Dads too. How lovely! DD had to phone Gran right away and was absolutely over the moon. She went off to sleep about 40 minutes later saying Santa had told her to go to bed so she'd better do it. It was so sweet and what a lovely welcome. We went up to DD's room to watch him go round the road giving pressies to all the littlies.

Sounds lovely.

Our road had a mulled wine and mince pie do in the street on friday, and santa came to give little packets of chocolate buttons to the kids, which was nice.

And i saw santa driving a bus on saturday

Oh, that's lovely!

The Round Table has a Father Christmas sleigh they take through the local roads here - I remember it from when I was little too - took DS1 out to see it this year and he waved, in a puzzled fashion (he's 2.8) - I'm a LOT more excited than him this year (and he's quite excited... )!

We had FC round here recently, courtesy of the Round Table. We, too, were the house of lurgy, with children in pjs and drressing gowns, so we just put on their hats and coats over and carried them out to see it. They were so delighted, especially after having been trapped at home feeling yuck for several days.

The benefit of living in a small town - this sort of thing never happened in London.
