First of all, he looked the part! Secondly was able to tell ds1 and ds2 exactly how they had been misbehaving, i.e not going to bed on time, squabbling, watching too much TV. He told them he knew all this because he had a little robin spying from the garden. Now, 2 days ago a robin did fly into our house from the garden, so this was clearly the truth! He warned them that as there was a shortage of PSP's this year, they would not get one each but would get one to share. Even I left thinking that he was the real Santa! And sceptical ds1 was convinced!

I must tell my kids that the birds are watching them for Santa, much more believable than 'he just can see you' when they ask how he can see them!

So - was he
a) briefed in advance
b) Psychic
c) dh doing a stint as FC

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:18

Where is this Santa?

southeastastra · 21/12/2006 22:19

did you have a liquid lunch

paulaplumpbottom · 21/12/2006 22:20

Won't telling them its the birds give them freakiy hitchcockesc dreams.

MerryChipmonkAndAHappyNewey · 21/12/2006 22:33

scatterbrain, he was not briefed in advance and definitely not dh! I'm almost leaning towards psychic!
southeastastra, I most assuredly did NOT have a liquid lunch, unfortunately!
paula, this Santa is here which is no good to you at all if you're in the UK, I'm afraid! Btw he was not the same guy as in the top picture, he was much more real! Maybe the real Santa locked that guy up in a box and decided to carry out his own stunts!
The display of lights there was beautiful as well, we had hot chocolate with marshmallows and by the time we got out it was dark. There were Christmas lights displayed in all sorts of places, in little woodland scenes. One had a little doll-sized treehouse and toadstool seats underneath with fairy lights and lanterns hanging from the trees. It was just magical!

Hmmm I think a 5 hour drive might be a bit much

We met a lovely one today. He had my children completely sorted with instructions. They have to leave out a cheese sarnie, glass of milk, water and carrot. On Christmas Eve they must go to bed and not shout at each other through the walls "are you asleep yet" as he can only come when they are. And on Christmas Day they are not allowed to get up until 7am so that I get a lie in as apparently I will be working hard the rest of the day so it's only fair that I don't get up at the crack of dawn.

DD was freaked out at the thought of FC coming into our house and leaving a present for her last year. She is good so she won't be bothered about the birds.

Does Hamleys have a FC? I'd like to take the kids to see one but refuse to go to the local shopping centre, its awful there.

Paula, where are you?
