and now she has sold out [sob]

but was in crappy flat with no internet access to order online and no opportunity to sneak away without her

Have tiny tears sold out everywhere?
So glad that dd1 is not into dolls.

poinsettydog · 20/12/2006 21:48

Can't you get one anywhere?

TinsellyRhino · 20/12/2006 21:49

oh you poor thing

are you sure you still can't get it somehow, anyhow?

belgianmama · 20/12/2006 21:52

{{{hugs}}} I can imagine what you feel like. But hey, if she is dissappointed, which she might not be, she'll get over it. My mum didn't get me a real barbie hairdresser's salon when I was little, but I still got through my childhood as a perfectly balanced adult and I have forgiven her. So cheer up

Cappuccino · 20/12/2006 21:54

Cappuccino · 20/12/2006 21:57

merrylissiemas · 20/12/2006 22:09

and argos, where do you live?

mamalocco · 20/12/2006 22:18

Babyborn eats, wees, poos, cries, - could you get one of those. Actually, don't get one of those - it eats, wees, poos, cries...

EmmyLou · 20/12/2006 22:30

Cappuccino - please take some comfort from the fact that with 3 dds, we live in a household populated by 2 baby Borns, 1 baby Annabel and 1 Tiny Tears. Oh and 4 Sasha dolls of mine from when I was a child (beautiful traditional doll that does 'nothing').

Here, I now list them in order of popularity and played-with-ness:

  1. Sasha dolls - ha, you see none of their friends have these so some kudos is gained but would say this peaks at around 6 years of age.

  2. Baby Born - can be put in the bath (I swear this will be over my dead body as they take forever to 'drain' but somehow I keep ending up over the sink squeezing the fat plastic limbs). Also can EAT - better than weeing apparently.

  3. Baby Annabel - makes noise and is cuddly. There is an off switch.

  4. Tiny Tears - no one likes her very much as her legs stick out unfeasibly wide just to make her sit down. Of course, I might be refering to an out dated model. Also theugliest of the lot as mop of hair is quite sinister.

You could always write a note from Father Christmas saying he'd run out of Tiny Tears so he'd brought her one of his better dolls instead...?

merrylissiemas · 20/12/2006 22:32

thats a fab idea emmylou

belgianmama · 20/12/2006 22:33

Emmylou, likr the Santa letter idea.

hulababy · 20/12/2006 22:38

Baby Born wees and poos!

Princess Alexi - doesn't do any of those things but it looks pretty (to DDs anyway) and is reduced to £25 in Woolworths

Baby Annabel cries

Baby Chou Chou - seems to be lots of different models all doing something different

I got a cheap wet and bry doll in Argos a year ago. Not Tiny Tears though.

fussymummy · 20/12/2006 23:31

Buy a baby born, she wees and shes not as heavy to carry around either!!!

What area do you live in?

Maybe we could get you one if you're not too far away!

busybusymum · 20/12/2006 23:45

just checked 20 Argos stores near to me and all out of stock I'm afraid

you're all so lovely

have reserved a baby annabel (don't want to go down the pooing route with Baby Born

dh did a search on reviews for Tiny Tears and found that the weeing bit didn't work too well, resulting in everyone who held the doll getting covered in water

so maybe is Good Thing

thanks for all your help

My dd is also hoping for a tt doll this year but they have sold out here (am relieved 'cos they look scarey), so I have bought her some things for one of the other dolls she has and also a Barbie Genevieve doll - I'm hoping she won't be that bothered once she opens all her presents anyway. By sheer luck a relative has this morning sent her some money, so I've already said she can save it for anything FC and the elves don't manage to deliver on Sunday night. As others have already said Baby Born and Annabel seem much better dolls anyway, so I'm sure your dd will be thrilled equally with one of them .
