Does Mum/Dad give your dc pressies or just Father Christmas and rellies?

Where I grew up Father Christmas gave one or two presents and the rest were from Mum and Dad and rellies. Dp says Father Christmas and rellies give them all .

Does Mum/Dad then not look stingy when every other relative have dished out but not them?

And what happens when DC don't believe in Father Christmas anymore? (We just got one present less.)

this has cme up before!
mummy and daddy give a present or two
santa fills a sock with a few other bits
relatives and friends also give presents

In our house Santa fills DD's stocking with little gifts, then gets her three or four larger gifts. The rest are from me & DP, or whoever else sent them, relatives, friends, etc.
I do have to remember to make sure that Santa uses different wrapping paper to us!
Everyone has different traditions though....

(I don't mean large larger gifts, just a bit too big to fit in her diddy stocking)

Mum and Dad give 'main' presents, under the tree, along with family and friends.
Santa gives bunch of 'smaller' presents in stocking ( crayons, books etc).

MIL still gives me and DH a 'stocking' !! We are nearly 30!!
I still got santa presents whiel I lived at home, less in number etc as got older. Partly becuase little sister is 7 years younger than me so Santa still came to her so why not big sis?!

FC gives DCs main gifts and stocking presents.

GPs and rellies give rest.

Hasn't occured to DCs that parents should give gifts as well.

We did this when we were kids and when we stopped believing in FC, nothing changed really. Still got stockings and gifts.

i cant believe this is so complicated - what happens to those kids who have no rellies or rellies who are too fucking god damned tight to buy you kids anything ?

mum and dad buy toys but the elves have to make them work. jesus h christ. make shit up.

merry xmas

Custardo - I think it's time you had a great big glass of Christmas Cheer. Thanks for your !. Of course it's not that complicated - it's just that we've discovered a clash of Christmas Cultures in our house and I'm interested to see what other people do.

I have been led to believe by dp that his way is the "English" way - but apparently not according to MN. And must admit our rellies never appeared on the giving list but dp's do big time - making Mum and Dad even more stingy looking if they don't give anything imo.

Have decided that this year, since we are in dp's land, will do it dp's way, with one pressie from us (my choosing ).

I grew up with FC leaving small things unwrapped in a sock at end of bed, everything else was from named people who had to be thanked. DH grew up with FC leaving a pillow case full of presents some wraped and from named people, some unwrapped from FC, all other presents were from named people.

So what we are doing for our DS is - sock with a mix of wrapped from named people and un wrapped. sort of a ix of the 2 traditions. We both grew up in families were only FC presents are opened in teh morning, all others wait till after lunch and washing up and the Queen.
