I am stuck for ideas, and could really use a bit of help from someone who knows what 2 year olds might like!

Flowers TIA

I wouldn't get a marble run. Duplo (bat man set received this morning is a massive hit!) or playmobil 123 are good. Mine also enjoys the orchard games and pretend food.

ipswichwitch · 20/12/2015 15:17

My just turned 2yo loves duplo - he plays with his brothers an we've got him the batman set for Christmas. Playmobil 123 is also great, and he loves his wooden train set.

I wouldn't get a marble run for my ds as he still puts things in his mouth at the moment. Probably a good one to get when they're 3 /4 though?

Wouldn't trust my 20m/o with a marble run. He has the little tikes car transporter which he loves. I've just twitched and bought a playmobil dump truck reduced to £21 on Amazon. It's not the 123 but we have lots of the construction vehicles and they don't have small pieces. They are such good quality and will last years.

SueDunome · 20/12/2015 20:46

I would get a wooden train set, he will get years and years of play from it. You can never have too much wooden train set so, if he already has one, it doesn't matter - the more track and trains, the more fun.

I wouldn't buy a marble run for a 2yo, choking hazard. There's a reason they say 3+. That's a present for older kids who can put it together.

My 2yo's favourite things (just 2):
Duplo
Playmobil 123
Duplo
Aquadoodle
Board books

Just starting to be interested in really simple puzzles, too.

Ok, I will give the marble run a miss this year.

I actually bought my 3.5 year old a marble run for this Christmas. Then I caught him putting a small toy brick (about the same size as a marble) in his mouth. Marble run has been unwrapped again and gone back into the top of the wardrobe for next year! Pity, I was looking forward to playing with it Grin
At 2, my son loved anything like a big dumper truck, a toy shopping trolley, anything with wheels that he could push around, bigger the better. Should be possible to get one of those for well under £20. We also got him wooden train tracks at the same time, but it was a while before he could use it himself.
You could get some simple jigsaw puzzles, the very easiest, shape-fitting ones. Or a posting box.

The Little Tikes transporter with cars is perfect and amazing value for money.

Pranmasghost · 20/12/2015 23:16

£24.99 and worth every penny.

As already suggested, my little boy also liked happyland, playmobil 123 & duplo at that age.

Another big hit was WOW toys - flip n tip fred (dustbin) or dudley dump truck were great & incredibly robust.

Joskar · 20/12/2015 23:47

B toys. They are gorgeous. The Fish Splish boat is excellent. All ethical and charity donations and other right on boxes ticked but mostly just lovely toys.

WitchSharkadder · 20/12/2015 23:55

IMO, a big pack of good quality wooden blocks are always a big hit with toddlers. Hours of fun with all my children Smile

Ijustworkhere · 21/12/2015 13:52

my two year old boy loves Mr potato head. Its a good buy and you can expand a set with lots of different faces and accessories

BertieBotts · 21/12/2015 13:55

Brio stuff - you can get something decent for £20. The ikea equivalent is compatible and pretty good, too.

Laquila · 21/12/2015 14:09

Agree with all suggestions of transport-related things but havibgb said that, we have SO MUCH vehicle-related stuff that I'd be v grateful for something else!!

There's a play-do set out that has moulds for making breakfast stuff like waffles, fried eggs etc - my 2.3 yr old would ADORE that! Aldi has it for £9.99 at the mo. Alternatively we love any new books (particularly Julia Donaldson and Shirley Hughes at the mo), simple jigsaws and puzzles (Orchard Toys does nice ones) and farmyard-related stuff. Also fake food for playing shops is v popular at the moment.

Thanks everyone Flowers
