Breakfast on Christmas morning. What do you have?

As a child it consisted of a selection box Grin. I'd like to do something other than the usual toast but obviously with a large Christmas dinner looming I don't want a full English or spend too much time cooking it. What do you have?

Usually it's kind of a canapé selection - pigs in blankets with ketchup dip, little smoked salmon & cream cheese on Angel toast that sort of thing. And prosecco, although I'm pregnant this year so it'll be fizzy elderflower instead haha!

When I got married 17 years ago my FIL said in his speech that is was now my responsibility to make his daughter/my wife egg and bacon sarnies on Christmas morning.
So, we all pretty much have egg and bacon sarnies although I have had kippers myself on occasion (the rest of the family don't like them)
Note to self, pick up kippers during the Christmas shop this year

We have soda bread smothered in butter with poached eggs and a pint mug of tea. followed by bucks fizz. Kids have selection box and coins. My grandad was from Belfast which is probably where the soda bread tradition in my mum's family comes from.

NewLife4Me · 14/12/2015 17:05

We have full English as youngest is nearly 12 now.
When they rushed to open presents it was all very early so toast or cereal.
Now, we eat later.

FoxInABox · 14/12/2015 17:58

We are having the Christmas tree shape crumpets this year with Buck's Fizz for grown ups and 'Disney princess fake champagne' (basically like appletizer) for the kids m.

Boredofthinkingofnewnames · 14/12/2015 18:06

Bacon sandwiches an Buck's Fizz:)

Out2pasture · 14/12/2015 18:10

Baked French toast. You prep it the night before and pop in the oven in the am.
Fruit
Check out wifesaver recipes.

Hiddlesnake · 14/12/2015 18:12

Smoked salmon & scrambled egg on toasted bagels. And lashings of champagne.

Buttons23 · 14/12/2015 18:14

I am doing croissants, mini boxes of cereal that are not usually bought and some fruit salad.

jamtartandcustard · 14/12/2015 18:24

Croissants, pain au chocolats and chocolate pop tarts.

Whataboutreindeer · 14/12/2015 18:27

What's Angel bread?

This year we are having pioneer woman cinnamon rolls. They were amazing in my trial last week. Often it's salmon and eggs.

amitho · 14/12/2015 18:29

Toasted muffins with parma ham poached egg and hollandaise
Dd3 has porridge every morning witout fail I expect xmas will be no different

amitho · 14/12/2015 18:33

Lots of strong coffee and bought juice (never buy juice as a rule so it's a treat). I don't like drinking in the morning and can't understand why people like it. I just feel shite for the rest of the day

CremeBrulee · 14/12/2015 18:36

Pancakes or fresh waffles from the waffle iron. Yum.

GeraldineFangedVagine · 14/12/2015 18:36

Scallops, bacon, cauliflower puree. Kids have a chocolate orange and milkshake. We have champagne ;)

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 14/12/2015 18:42

Bagels usually - either with smoked salmon and scrambled egg or smoked salmon and cream cheese, depending on numbers and whether I have to cook Christmas dinner.

And fruit. Nice coffee. Kids might grab a bowl of cereal while the main breakfast is being prepared too.

ComeInBaldrick · 14/12/2015 19:05

It's usually bacon and egg sandwiches and homemade cinnamon swirls/pain au chocolats. With bucks fizz.

Purplehonesty · 14/12/2015 19:13

This year I am going to do Santa pancakes for the DC
Giant pancake with a banana beard (should be whipped cream but I can't see them fancying that) and His hat made out of sliced strawberries.
Chocolate drop eyes and nose.
With a drizzle of syrup I think they'll love it.
We are going to have scrambled eggs and granary toast with fresh orange.
I'm hungry now!

Ughnotagain · 14/12/2015 19:17

My dad made me an omelette one year. I don't know why, I don't think he made it for anyone else. I liked that as a Christmas breakfast though!

These days it's usually warm croissants and Nutella and good coffee, but then we eat that at other times than Christmas...

ItsaTenfromSanta · 14/12/2015 21:35

Chocolate, the only day of the year the kids got to have chocolate for breakfast. Now they're grown up it's one of our traditions:)

American pancakes and a double decker out of my selection box :)

Kitla · 14/12/2015 22:23

Buck's Fizz, pancakes and maple syrup. Although the girls do stuff themselves on chocolate before breakfast too.

imwithspud · 15/12/2015 19:52

What ever we fancy. Dp will probably have a sausage and/or egg and bacon sandwich. I'm going to have buttered toast on white bread - doesn't sound like much but it will be a real treat for me as I've been doing slimming world and have cut out my morning toast (which I've had religiously for at least the past 10 years) entirely. Along with a chocolate milkshake which I also cut out from my diet for the same reason.

I will probably do the dd's pancakes or banana pancakes. Love the Santa face idea using banana's and strawberries so I might have to steal that one!
